So which woud be the better gun

1) new Zastava M70 9.3x62 for 695.00

OR

2) Used Husky 1600 9.3x62 (cracked behind tang) for 695.00

Both are at Tradex

I've got an African in 416 Ruger...really like it.

But was asking about a new Zastava or used husky 1600...:)

I’d go new. The zastava has a better trigger as well. But they are rough out of the gate. Wood is decent but the checkering and finish could be improved on.

zastava ... harder to fiind a better deal. good luck to find an african. i tried for months with a wtb on EE ...

:)Agreed. I opted for ;)a ".366 Wagner" in a Zastava full wood Mannlicher style model. NO regrets and you're quite correct, good bang for the buck. While it may not have the degree of finish that many other brands on the market have, I was dazzled with the accuracy on my first few handload tests. So much so, that I ordered another of the same model, this one in 7x57.;) The smoothness in cycling the action is gradually improving with use.

Neither.
Spend the extra few hundred if you can and get the Sauer 100 over the zastava. I bought a zastava 9.3x62 last year , it was rough. Technically nothing wrong with it but it was less than I’d expected to be honest. At $700 I did expect a bit more fit and finish. The action was like sandpaper , it also didn’t like to load pointed bullets from the magazine compared to the round nose. The rear sight was also absolute crap.
The Sauer 100 9.3x62mm I got recently is a thousand miles ahead of the zastava for only a few hundred more. $999 for the Sauer from Prophet River.
If you can’t swing the extra $300 right now then wait until you can. The zastava is a rough as guts pig of a gun. For three extra hundred the Sauer is infinitely better.

I had good results with the first two powders I tried so I haven't bothered trying any others, powder or bullets. Using the 285gr PRVI bullet, IMR 4320 and IMR 4064.

I've got lots of 4064, just checked Hodgdon reloading and I have most of the powders they list with 285 gr bullets....lots of H 4350 on hand as well.

a sauer and a commercial mauser are not even to be compared but to each his own.
