Ruger 1A? Are they worth the price/hassle?

I don't know that you can really compare a kipplauf to a Ruger No. 1 as an apples to apples comparison. The Haenel Jaeger 9 is about the same cost as a No. 1 - but the feel and balance is completely different. The action itself is thinner and lighter, but longer because of the tilting block and decocking mechanism. If you want to go all out and spend 3-4x what a Ruger costs you can, but cheaper options do exist - and to my mind anyone who likes single shots should at least try it once just because it feels so different than a No. 1 or 1885.
I never shot one but I had a Jaeger 9 in my hand and man it is a nice rifle, I don’t think it has the elegance of a no1 but has some features that are really nice!! Price is about the same and quality at least the same, but the look ain’t the same!

You want to spend 3 or 4 times the cost of a No. 1? To have a European version...go ahead.
I'm good with the "Investment Cast POS" that Ruger puts out ( Someone in the Target Forum spouted that bit of wisdom in reply to a Query)...some folks just have no Panache at all.
Sorta shake my head at that statement...like WTF?
You got the wrong guy, never said anything like that, just pointing out what I would like to see if they would be willing to change a few things.... I love my 2 no1 and will likely buy a few more when/if the one I’m after come up and the timing is good!!

I actually like the minimalist side of the No. 1.
Reminds me of a Martini action. No bells and whistles needed...cept for the ( likely mandated) safety of course

Worth the price oh ya, beautiful rifle, what kind of hassle do you mean?
I have a no 1 in 300 win mag, bought new in ‘93. Really nice wood on it, stopped hunting with it as it seemed a shame to put any more marks on it. Took a few deer, a moose, and a bear. It sure kicks hard though. Anyone else think they boot you harder than other rifles in same caliber.

That is my impression to!!

Will i like the #1, had a few, got a 30-30 and just picked up a 219 Zipper, would like a .22 hornet or 218 bee,
If anyone has a 1/4 rib for a 1A. I am looking for one, for the Zipper, as it been barreled from a heavier profile, barrel. current 1/4 rib not inline with the barrel.

I actually have a spare quarter Rib, Grant!
Gimme a call.....

Lots of good reviews/impressions on these rifles. Glad to hear. Far to much negative stuff on the internet sometimes. Seems like one bad review snowballs into Urban Legend

If a rifle is capable of being converted to a cartridge of 375 H&H by swapping the barrel, then it is prohibited per May 1st OIC.

The words 'capable of' have a specific meaning given R. v. Hasselwander.

It is al there in the Burlew opinion.

It's actually a slam dunk easy one if it were to be prosecuted.

I read this and can only assume it is satire. If not, it is a classic example of a lawyer who believes, because he went to school for a long time, that means he is intelligent. I want to see his You Tube demonstration where he alters the bolt face of a Weatherby MkV to accept a 460; using nothing but a hand file. Pure BS.

X2!!! I hate it when people confuse education with Intelligence.....You can have a degree [or several] and still be an idiot. :)

That's because it was auto-compensating for the animal running away from you if you missed the first couple of shots. ;-)

That could possibly be very true, I just never put t together but makes perfect sense now that I think about it.

Thankfully I never needed it.

The beauty of a single shot rifle... you tend to concentrate on putting the first one were it needs to go.

Can't really help folks that have been brainwashed by the education system over the past 50 yrs. They lost their will for skill learning to the socialist, "care bear" crap that we live in now. Hardcore de-programing be needed for so many of them suckers.
f:P: :(

That said, I'd like a 1A in 25-35 Win though. ;)
