Sig P210 vs Dan Wesson PM-9 vs CZ TSO

The SIG was very nice, but what can you do nowadays with a single stack 9mm handgun, besides the occasional target practice?

The same can be said for just about any handgun in Canada.
- They are all range toy... Sure, some are better suited for this or that game... but they are still only being used for the occasional range visit.

A little off-topic, but other 9mm "classic" that are interesting to own at one time or another.
- Browning HP
- Walther P38
- Luger P08
- HK P7
- S&W PPC9 or a 952

SIG 210 has a 8 round single stack magazine, while the other two guns have magazines limited to 10 rounds.

An 8 round single stack magazine handgun is hard to re-sell, especially in that price range.

I took two US made P210's on trade at various times. Both sold within an hour of being put in the EE. Didn't seem particularly difficult to move them?

Op,

I've owned Swiss, German, and US made 210's. I very briefly owned a DW Valor. And I've owned a CZ Shadow 1, Shadow 2, and TS at various times. Here's my take.

The P210's are all good guns. The Swiss and German guns ooze quality but are no longer worth the price of admission. Both US built 210's I had were good shooters but I never really warmed up to them after owning the other ones.

The DW Valor I owned was a quality gun and was superb in every way, however I did not like the sights and it went down the road when I acquired an Ed Brown Executive Target. The 1911 platform suits me. While more complicated than other designs I love a nice 1911, and the PM9 is certainly that. Take-down is a breeze once you do it once or twice. I wouldn't worry about 9mm cycling in a DW 1911. DW has been in the game long enough to sort out any issues and put out a reliable product, as evidenced by their reputation.

The CZ's......yeah. CZ does some things so well, but the Kool-aid crew have gone full tilt in that camp. The TS I owned had a phenomenal trigger for a production pistol; it's not a Pardini or nicely tuned 1911 but it's really good. I can only imagine the Orange is equal or better. Unfortunately the grip was huge. I believe CZ addressed the grip on the TSO but then added a bunch of race-gun bits that aren't my style. The Shadow 2 I won't get into but it's not nearly as impressive as people like to hype it up to be. By my estimation your SAO Shadowline is a better gun than the S2 and you'd gain little by adding another CZ.

If you couldn't already tell, if I were you I'd buy the DW. The only 'production' type pistols I still own are 1911's and Glocks, though I really do need to get another BHP.

I guess it depends, if you hang around IPSC shooters, probably. If you hang around "serious" plinker... probably not.
- The only reason why I sold my Swiss 210 was the stupid cost (and limited availability) of extra magazines. For a reason or another, I hadn't realized that I'd need to fork out another $1500 for another 5 magazines... and borrowing magazines to shoot a PPC match, well, I didn't want to abuse of a friend's generosity.

Over the years, I've pretty much use any and all of the above to shoot in a bullseye league, some PPC match and service pistol.
- Where they the "best" pistol for the job?... Probably not.
- Did I have fun nevertheless?... You betcha!

Speaking of which, I've often lusted over a Benelli MP3S in 9mm. But they seldom (if ever) show up for sale...

If I was to get a 1911 in 9mm, I'd probably talk to Dlask about making me one to my liking, in commander size.

Since not many have talked about the PM9 I will just say that they are very nice pistols and IMO Dan Wesson bats above their price point, knocking on the doors of Nighthawk, Les Baer, Wilson Combat, etc.

You have to spend quite a bit more to get a nicer 1911 and the quality gap isn't as far off as the price gap.

Perfect, that's what I like to hear! I'm a fan of buying the best bang for buck before I get into the diminishing returns level... I figured Dan Wesson was the one to achieve that.

That DW DWX has really caught my eye, although I much prefer a non-rail more classic 1911 look.

That would be a nice find. I don't think I have ever seen one for sale in Canada, at least over the past 10 years when I have been paying more attention.

Heard of Bul?

I just received this model: https://www.freedomventures.ca/products/bul-government-tactical-carry

Initial impressions, I am impressed for the money.

Checkering is on the front and rear strap is very aggressive, like a Shadow 2, which I like. Grips are also very aggressive.

Slide is butter smooth, sounds even better than the P210 target USA I had, zipper like sound.

Mags are single stack, 10 rounders.

Definitely feel the weight, the bull barrel is chunky. Factory specs says 40 oz.

Trigger is nice, 2mm of initial takeup, break, 1mm of reset, then next trigger pull.

Got to test the trigger weight still.

Sights, not my style, 3 white dots, will look for a red front fibre optic, then blackout the rear.

Might have to brave the cold this Friday.

That sounds like pretty good bang for buck, looks like a great pistol! I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for 1911's in the next little bit, just need to decide if I'm going 9mm or 45acp.

I did end up ordering the P210 Standard, couldn't get over the looks and I pray mine goes smoother than some of the reports on the thread here. It looks as though they discontinued the model so I figured now was the time to scoop the last one up, the 1911 will always be around.

where did you get one, the one that was on EE?

Update, got a 1911 in the end as well. That didn't take long..!

The P210 came and is flawless, it's the smoothest slide I've ever felt and feels perfect, trigger is insanely good and so light it's almost like a jack-in-the-box for when it goes off as the wall is practically microscopic and hard to detect. It shot a box with no hiccups, was more accurate than I can shoot, and the three dot sights appear very nicely although a little large. I found with the standard grips it ended up giving me some grief on my hand so I ordered a set of armory craft G10 grips with palm-swells and a mini magwell built into them, hopefully that'll fix the hand pain issue.
