New or used? 9.3x62

I would sooner spend $700 on a brand new Zastava than $700 on a used Husky with a cracked stock. I was also looking at the used 9.3x62 rifles from Tradex and 90% of the inventory was advertised with stocks cracked behind the tang.

That being said though I also agree that a new Sauer 100 would be a better choice for the money. Awesome adjustable trigger right out of the box, smooth 60 degree bolt throw, removable magazine, ten year warranty and 1 moa accuracy guarantee. Prophet River has a Sauer 100 classic xt synthetic in stock right now in 9.3x62 for $799. Yes there are no iron sights but still a bargain IMO none the less.

Also there has been confusion whether the Sauer 100 has a threaded or press fit barrel. I own a a Sauer 100 xt in 6.5x55 and mine is clearly a threaded barrel. I can see the barrel threads through the front scope base mounting hole in the top of the action. I believe it was possibly the 101 model that was press fit causing the confusion or possibly some of the early 100 production models may have been press fit then later made with threaded barrels.

a cracked stock can be fixed. just a matter of knowledge and time. i ve seen our .366 wagner fixing a mauser 96 stock and the way it was done it will never happen again so you should no worry too much about a crack,.

You're right, that stock of hers never did crack again, and the flip-flop pad is still doing the heavy work, too. :)

One of my oldest '62s is also a Model 96, and it has never whimpered, even with the heavy bullet loads.

Zastava. It will smooth out with use. Great value.

:)Right you are, I acquired a pair of full wood models and both of mine are gradually doing so. For the dollar value I was amazed :d at the accuracy of the first one, the 9.3x62, with my first few reload tests. So much so, I picked up a second, in 7x57. Bang for the buck, NO complaints!!

Speaking of zastavas, have any been imported in the last while? I havent seen any new ones crop up on our shores in almost a year.

Haven't checked out what's available lately but when I picked up mine, I got them from Trade Ex. Oh, an issue I had with both is the length of pull but a friend that's into gunsmithing easily took care of that.

The truth shall set you free :) :) Pressfit. If your not aware the mauser m18, mauser m12, and the sauer 101 are all press fit aswell. All made by the same company under different banners/logo's.

Half a page of garbage and then a resort to some IMAGINARY statement from Sauer some pulled out of there asses with information out of context and knowledge of the facts. Keep feeding the community with pseudo expertise, lol.

On one point I agree - the truth will come out!

You are such an incredible dyck...

I’m not sure if they made different versions of the Sauer 100 but here is a link to a guns and ammo review that explains how the barrel and receiver are assembled. Barrel threaded to receiver with breech ring in between which sets the headspace. The bolt lugs lock into this breach ring and not into the barrel OR the receiver. On my rifle I can clearly see the threads in the barrel and the breach ring which appears to be made of a different material, looks like stainless. https://www.gunsandammo.com/editori...-refinement-affordability-and-accuracy/247599

So which woud be the better gun

1) new Zastava M70 9.3x62 for 695.00

OR

2) Used Husky 1600 9.3x62 (cracked behind tang) for 695.00

Both are at Tradex

You will have no regrets with the Zastava. I just got one from Tradex in 6.5 x 55. These are the three lug Mauser 98 bolts so have a very strong action. These barreled actions were sold by almost everyone at one time as the "Mark X Mauser". Even Remington used them and sold them as the 798, I believe Rigby used them as well as Interarms. I think Browning did as did FN.

These are great rifles; go with the Zastava; I'm certain that 5 years from now, your rifle will appreciate in value as well.

BTW, I'm thinking about picking up one of those used ones for a project rifle. The only think holding me back is the price of ammo to get enough brass to reload. LOL, that and I have no practical reason to have a 9.3 x 62 rifle. LOL.

You can get bags of 100x PRVI brass at trade ex for 90$, and he just received a couple die sets. It's good brass. The loaded prvi ammo was $34.95 a box until just a few months ago, so IMO it wasn't worth reloading at that point. Now the loaded ammo has gone up to 43$/box and is OOS.

Hahahaha.....quite the key board warrior you are. I stand corrected if the barrel is threaded but you do realize when you got more than a dozen reputable gun writers/editorials claiming the barrel is pressed in, its easier to believe them over an obnoxious forum member holding a claim with out presenting much facts. I'm okay eating some humble pie, but it sure seems like you don't. Enjoy your love for the sauer 100 :)

Some more pictures of some 9.3x62 action from 2014

Went out this evening on a stroll , hunting, was hoping to get a 4point buck but saw no deer, but ended up seeing a black bear. It was approx. 75-80 yards away, used my zastava m70 in 9.3x62 topped with Nikon prostaff 3-9x40, 285 gr privi bullet @ approx. 2400/2450 fts. One shot one kill. The bear dropped on the spot then got up and went a few yards groaning and moaning then fell dead. It was a broad side shot hit the top lungs close to the spine.

Here are some pictures of the bear and gun, sorry for the lower quality pics.

SHOT THIS 4X4 MULE BUCK WITH MY 9.3X62, 1 SHOT 1 KILL, LUNGS SHOT @ APPROX 40 YARDS, BUCK WENT APPROX 15 YARDS AND DROPPED.

Enjoyed the photos and thanks for sharing.:)

Posting on behlaf of Johnn Peterson. Zastava m70 in 9.3x62 and 7x57 mauser. Great pics and loads!
