I've had this sitting in the safe for years, but it just isn't my area of interest (milsurps are), so plan to sell
or trade it. Could someone give me a sense of it's current value with the scope and mount?

The finish is definitely showing some age, wood is sound, bore looks okay, missing a front band though I believe?

Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know about the 22 version, but the 30-30 models tend to go from $300-$400 depending on condition, adding the scope mount is a plus, but not sure about the demand for the caliber.

Good chance it has a .223 grove as the one I had did and scattered .224 bullets all over the paper.

Thanks for the input so far. I just had no idea of value, as it was passed onto me. And I don't know optics or this caliber at all.

Will put it up for trade first and see what happens.

That Lyman scope was a good thing in its day and the mount and rings if they are snug and stable now can keep working long enough to wear out the rifle.

Is the action tight in the stock? They’ve got a funny single action lug and a barrel band holding it into the stock. No rear screw by the trigger group holding the action in the stock. The barrels are heavy, I suspect the same profile as the 30-30 but drilled for 22 cal. I’ve shot .224 reloads and never had a problem(Winchester 50gr pp and 4198). Mine doesn’t feed. Have you shot it. If it feeds they are good guns to get someone into shooting. Full rifle size features but no recoil. Not a carry around all day dainty 22 hornet. But if you can get the screw the correct tightness I suspect they are accurate due to the low recoil and barrel weight.

It’s worth less than the most basic used entry level axis or ruger American

It is missing the barrel band, so I guess that could be an issue with accuracy. Although the action still seems to sit snug in the stock.

I have not fired it, but I actually have a few live rounds and they seem to feed from the magazine okay.

As you say, certainly not a light rifle, but great introductory centerfire shooter I imagine.

Thanks for the input everyone. Really appreciate it.

I bought one in 22 hornet about 3 months ago from auction. It is the 340E with the checkering. It has the sights and scope mount. It was $375.00 with buyer's fee. Prices are all over. I've seen them as high as $700.00 on gun post and they sold. Don't know for how much they actually sold for though. There are 3 on gun post right now in 222 and 30-30. They are listed at $375.00 to $450.00 and so far not sold.
Edit: A Savage 340E in 22 Hornet was listed this morning (Feb. 12) on gun post for $595.00 and sold in a couple of hours.
