Nylon tipped set screws would be easier on the threads.
Is there a version that doesn’t require a brake?

Nylon tipped set screws deform and eventually fail. They also don't have enough bite to hold solid. Engaging on a thread also isn't ideal as the thread can deform and the set screw may loosen. Our mounting collar has the set screws engage on a non threaded portion or flat surface of the collar that is nitride hardened.... therefore not damaging the threads and providing a flat perpendicular surface for the set screw to lock up against. We tested nylon, brass and steel. This combination was solid with no failure and the highest retained tuner concentricity.

No, the tuner is designed to only work on a Heathen Brake at this point however a non brake option is possibly an option

pardon my ignorance and lack of knowledge in this topic. But I am genuinely curious what this Tuner is suppose to do. Barrel harmonics?

I realize you have your solution but the best way to do this on the threads would have been to use a sacrificial lead bb in-between the set screw and the threads. You could include some extra bb's from a bag of lead shot for less than $0.02 to allow repeat installations.

Yes-the tuner is a weight-when moved along the axis of the bore changes the harmonics of the barrel

I would imagine it works basically the same as the browning boss system , where you can adjust it to the bullet you are shooting ,
To get to closest to bullseyes as possible
If so I seen no reason why it would not work perfectly, my boss system worked great for my handloads, just adjust by different setting till your bang on.
Looks like a good set up !

We designed it to not be on the threads. Locking on threads even with a nylon tip is bad. Does not create a union pressure as it rides on the pitch or point of the thread. Nylon tips fail as well and do not hold as well to eliminate movement

Pretty much...

A tuner is a tuner. Nobody is reinventing the wheel here. The Insite Tuner fits on 3 sizes of our Heathen Muzzle Brakes without any modification. It maintains the original brake placement on the barrel thread tenon, maintains the barrel crown position flush with the rear of the first port for optimal accuracy and has zero contact with the barrel or brake body. It locates only on the outer threads of the Brake Locking Collar.

A tuner is a very simple and proven device that has been around for many years. We have simply developed our best iteration to accommodate the thousands of people who use Heathen Brakes and want the option to try a tuner without compromisimg the opportunity to run the Heathen.

It’s greatly appreciated !
