Hello fellow target rifle shooters.
Does anyone in Canada, offer a shooting clinic or training sessions, specifically geared towards, long range, full bore, rifle shooting instruction, for civilian target shooters?

(I can hear the chuckles already) ;)

Cheers

Brutus, lets see what we can gear up for you locally(NS). I'll talk to a few of the better shooters on your behalf.

Regards,

Peter

Brutus,
There are plenty of great shooters from the Maritimes. If Peter can set you up with a mentor it would be allot easier on the pocketbook. You will be ready for the DCRA matches by Aug.

Peter and Maynard are right, there are quite a few very good shooters in the maritimes, who also happen to be good teachers and nice guys. Can you help narrow down you location a bit?

I'll haul out my blaster for some winter fun, let's do it. I've got a few lapuas kicking around somewhere.

...and a new sling to try out. :D

Now if we could get some winter shooting done in Ontario (a la ORA), that would be awesome! Whaddya think Maynard?

How about an internet junior mentor challenge? Three teams of two shooters, one an experienced shooter and one under 18 new shooter?

5+2 each at 300 and 500 for possible 140 points?

Top team and top province in Agg are posted here as the Junior Mentor Champions until dethroned.

Any sponsors care to offer a prize for the winning junior?

I think NS would pound ON.

Viper7, interesting, however, Brutus is interested in organized Fullbore shooting and I'll make sure he gets looked after. As far as sponsorship, we(Hirsch Precision), are involved in many shooting disciplines with various organizations. Not to get off topic, but the best way to grow our sport is join a club and get involved. This is exactly why Brutus gets our support.

You are also welcome and sounds like you may already be involved.

Regards,

Peter

Terry, you mean in the snow....brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Much easier to wipe sweat off the stock than snot, and not near as slippery:D
The shooting jacket does not double as a winter coat and my shooting mitt is fingerless.

Viper, Irons or scope or any combination of both? Top TR Team, Top F Class Team and Top Combined TR/F class? What about multiple entries in all three classes? Damn, I need to find a Junior now that my daughter turned 18 last summer:bangHead:

Firstly, Brutus, apologies for hijacking your thread.

Peter, I got to shoot a couple of TR matches this summer for the first time since shooting for the the cadet bisley team 20 years ago. Good fun was had and not really bad results considering the low end gear I had.

My two oldest boys are competing in IPSC and skeet/trap and I'd love to get them shooting long range fullbore stuff too so that they at least know it exists and can choose their favourite.

Maynard, I guess there could be different classes, but maybe a KISS or F(M)approach would be best to start.

If I can sit in a treestand for 8 hours to not shoot a deer, I'm sure you can stand a brisk day on the range. :D Think how interesting it will be to diagnose why your loads developed to shoot at 30+ degress won't work at -10!
