I recently picked up a 458x2 American in a Remington 700 action. I have about 40 cases ready to load that came with the rifle as well as 50 cast 400 gr bullets and 50 Barnes 400 gr fn originals. Also have 3 die set from rcbs for 458x2. I’m looking for advice on how to reload and any load data. I have heard that I may have to ream the case a bit but don’t know where to get a ream. Any info is greatly appreciated thanks

I have the rcbs convertion dies as well. Now there's at least two differing chamber reamers out there only because it's a wildcat case. I suggest you save yourself some time and perhaps un-needed grief: first trim to length then handload a few cases with moderate pressure loads and a few handloads with the neck internally reamed then a few without the I intermal neck reaming. I myself never found much measureable difference. One or two more handloads using this case the difference will disappear completely.
But this can only be truly influenced thickness of the brass right around that cut about two inches.
7mm Rem Mag and 458 Win Mag will have different tapers and therefore neck tension your cut to length brass.

IIRC 300 Win Mag regardless of manufacturer seemed the most consistent brass to be worked every which way. 458 Win Mag a close second but this is expensive brass.
For reasons I cannot explain 308 Norma Mag developed loose primer pockets well before any other brand name.

Edit: Weatherby Magnum brass quality was top notch by far to convert.

Thanks for all the help I was able to cut down 338wm and 7mm mag as well as 458 and loaded with 41gr of imr 4198 and Barnes original fn 400 gr. What a cannon! Fires great and pretty accurate

I own a .450 Marlin BLR, which is essentially the same cartridge with a wider belt. My best load with a Hornady 350 FP IL is 56 grains of H322. It shoots well, shows no sign of excess pressure in my rifle, and will definitely wake you up if you snooze.

I’ve loaded up some with 4198 and 350gr interlock rn and at 100 yards off the bench it’s holding 1 inch groups with iron sights, haven’t had the chroni out to see what velocity is yet but I’m hoping it’s good since the accuracy with this load

Very nice indeed. BTW any of the "4" powders routinely had more preceived recoil in the various 45 rifle cartridges than 3031 or Reloader 7. I found the 3031 a bit more accurate, a bit slower and 7 gave slightly higher velocities.

My two bits.
