Typical match will be 20-30 shooters
8-10 stages
80-100 rounds, depending on stages
Distances of 300-500m
This year we will be trying to run 2 sets of targets
2 MOA targets for shooters with experience
3.5-4 MOA targets (trying to get some additional steel) for new and beginner shooters
We are also going to try to have some additional gear in each squad for new shooters to use so they can see what equipment is needed and how it works.
Really hoping to help get new shooters into the matches this year
I'm interested is starting/trying prs but only have a compact ruger in 308. What Would you recommend / not recommend to shoot with for a match?
Your .308 will be fine to come try out as long as it has a heavy barrel. Multiple shot strings don’t so as well on a sporter barrel. You will want to ensure you have correct dope for the ammo you are using, ensure you have a bipod, and a FFP scope that you can accurately dial distances on. You will also need a magazine that holds 10 rounds,
To know what you should get or not get for equipment is really a personal item and I recommend coming out so you can see what others have and are using.
We will be trying to help the newer shooters with some basic shooting bags to use, a tripod if there is a need for one in a stage etc
ever thought of running a beginner course? id be interested in one of those before shooting an actual match

Thanks for letting me know! I may just end up coming out for the day as I don’t have an ffp scope and the barrel on my rifle is a medium to heavy.

If you can dial your dope from 300 - 500 meters on your currant scope , don't worry about the FFP for now.
I also don't think you'll have any problems with a medium weight barrel either. It might be cool out there for the early match's and that'll help. You come out ,meet the crowd, shot some rounds. That's what it's all about. See what others are using and go from there. All fun.
