A family member has a Stevens, model 124 B semi auto shotgun. It has a plastic stock and appears to have a 28" barrel. I've checked my Blue Book of Gun Values, 25th Anniversary Edition but can't find any reference to that particular model in the Stevens or Savage listings. The closest is a listing for a Stevens model 124 but thats a bolt action. Does anyone have any idea of if it is actually listed in the Blue Book and if so, what the value would be?

I haven't shot it yet, but to me it appears to be a semi auto and doesn't even remotely resemble a traditional 'bolt action'. The cocking handle moves in & out and 'seems' to be able to lock up the action to a safety or single shot mode. I'll have to go try it out, in the meantime I'm guessing.

No, sorry, I don't have a picture. I 'hope' to remedy my tech skill, or lack thereof, with a digital camera in the near future.:redface:

If the handle is pulled out, the shotgun won't fire, or it better not. Push it in to lock. It is a bolt action. Out, back, foreward, in. The gun was designed to look like a semi - perhaps this was thought to be a more sophisticated in appearance than typical bolt action shotguns. The tenite stocks can crack.
I've seen these guns sell. Typically, $125 is about the most they bring. A really fine one might be of interest to a Stevens/Savage collector, and might command a bit of a premium.

I have the same problem

Sorry rig. I sort of answered that aspect in post # 4. I'll work on that though. Thanks for the help & info guys. I'll take it out & 'play' with it the next trip to the range. Thanks again.:)

Oops, sorry, did not notice that part of the post:redface:. I have the same problem. Luckly, I have a computer savey 16 year-old in he house. He is the one who handles the camera and downloads most of the pictures.

Enjoy yourself at the range with your new toy

Regards
Robert

It wasn't registered and the family member doesn't have a PAL so he has temporarily passed it down to me.
I just went through the varifier/registration process and that's what it is. As 240gord & tiriag mentioned, it is a straight pull bolt action. Sort of like a bolt action with carnal knowledge of a semi auto. The plastic stock makes it seem as though it was also messin' around with my Remington XP-100 on the side. ;)I've never seen that type of action, definately a little different and something else to 'play' with.
If I come to terms with the digital camera thing :runaway:and get it sorted out before Christmas and the visit by my new Granddaughter, I'll see if I can post a pic. Thanks again for all the info & help guys.
