cast bullets

can cast bullets be used in any gun? don't see why not, but i'm not sure

Yes, but there are important details to follow. The bullet has to be the correct hardness for the pressure, has to be sized correctly to fit the throat, haave good quality, a gas check design may be required. I've never heard of a mold for a caliber less than .22 and they would likely be difficult to cast with quality.

Cast bullets can be used in almost any cal. however some are better then others, calibers that have large dia. slower moving bullets will show max. potential from cast bullets. Good examples are 45/70, 444 Marlin, 44 mag, 30/30, etc. in those cals. cast bullets usually are the first choice.

There are apparently potential problems with shooting lead bullets in guns with polygonal rifling. Lots of people do it, but it seems to require more vigilance than conventional rifling.

There is a max velocity you can't go over with a certain lead hardness without sacrificing something. Sometimes there can be leading problems to figure out (lube or gas checks). A fast twist could be a problem. Some guns won't feed cast bullets properly.
