The T97 Thread!

So the complete rifle is pushing 1800 CAD. This price point defeats the purpose of buying Chineese. Just get an RDB for 1500 CAD (1800 with aftermarket rail).

not really. You don't HAVE to get the LHG, and a new X95 can go for almost $900 more taxes in even with the added cost of the lhg. I've used and had both apart. I HATE to admit if but I like the T97 action better that the Kel-Tec and the Tavor.

T97 base price is 1200 + 500 for aftermarket LHG
RDB base price is 1500 + 300 for aftermarket rail

comparing apples to apples, RDB is a better rifle, with better ergos, and fully upgraded it is also cheaper of the two.

I don't hate on T97 at all, but it only makes sense as a very budget option. If you dump another 500 into it, it loses it's main selling point.

I've handled, broke down and fired both. I like the RDB, but honestly and I hate to admit it if I had to chose between the two which is tougher, more soldier proof and what I would trust my life to... It's not the RDB. To me with the T97 the actions merits and things (at least the one I have) accuracy justify putting a few more dollars into it to improve the ergonomics and ability to add more accessories, and I would pick that upgraded package over the RDB even if it was at equal price

Oof that’s pretty steep. I was thinking of getting a spare for whenever I find a gen 1 or 3 for cheap...

But I think I’ll have to deal with it.

I’d buy one if the holes on the side were removed but it looks like the old identical one.

Pre-order for the LHG is now up. This thing isn't cheap that's for sure. $489.95 + 26.50 for shipping = 516.45 CAD

"Note: this is a pre-order and our expected completion date is May 31st 2021 at this writing"

wish it was a bit cheaper. Need to factor in a new pistol grip as well . Some nice to haves would be a a foregrip with picatinny rail which would drive the cost up even further

For anyone getting into a LHG. I always recommend reduced angle grips.

A standard A2 angle puts the back of the grip awfully close to the magazine and makes handling a bit more difficult.

So today I tinkered with a 10/30 ASC RRA pistol mag as per another user's recommendation. I was dissapointed that they did not fit and stupid me I did not take my firearm with me when I purchased them. It is what it is now.

So I gave one a slight squeeze in a vice and it did manage to fit fairly well however i noticed it doesn't sit in all the way like other mags. There's a bit of play but it seems to be locked in because you can't pull it out without pressing the mag release.

My second observation is that if I apply upward pressure to the mag while inserted it will move up and it causes the mag release button to push open but its still locked in.

Does anybody else notice this with their mags and have you had any issues?

Any other mags I have that do work the t97 fit in all the way and this particular one I tried in other rifles with no issue. Just not sure if this is normal.

Strange.

I’ve found issues more so with mags that are loose than tight.

Best mags I have are very slightly snug, not loosy goosey. Did you crush the spine too much?

That is really weird though... my normal loading of a mag into the gun I push up and then pull down on the mag to get it to the perfect spot.

it's possible I over did it. Tried it in an AR and it seems to fit fine but no so much with the T97

On a positive note I also picked up a C products Lar 15 pistol mag. It was packaged in a Duramag bag and is stamped with it as well. It fits perfect with the Gen 3 with no modification required.

Any ideas how awkward it is to run a magnifier on an FTU upper? Assuming the CH is on the right and the magnifier also flips to the right, wouldn't it end up blocking the CH?

I had one on my Gen 2. You have a couple of options to make it work. You can move the charging handle to the right or NC Star makes a flip over mount that can flip 180 degrees or 90 degrees. In the 90 degree position it easily clears the charging handle. A third option would be to mount the magnifier in a quick detach ring and remove it from the gun when not in use. I had the NC Star mount on mine and kept the charging handle on the left.
