Clip for mauser action

I don't know why Canadians use the word "clip" when they mean detachable magazine? I am guilty of it as well.

At any rate some one some where can convert your Mauser 98 to use a detachable magazine but I would guess if you can find that person it is going to cost $250 or more...?

I just tried fitting a clip to my mauser. No gunsmithing required!

Yeah, I know, I'm a smartass.:dancingbanana:

I can MAYBE understand a swinging floorplate, but a DM just doesn't cut it with me. Just another thing to go wrong. Lose that mag or forget it at home and you have an awkward to load single shot rifle. Also a pain in the butt to carry. Another thing, just try to find a replacement mag if you misplace the original. Even mags from modern manufactures like Remington or Tikka are very expensive and hard to find.

Del Selin of Vernon, PM me for his number, has a bunch of trigger gaurd magfolowerwell swinging floorplate units made from aluminum for sale. They are reasonably priced and just need a little anodizeing or painting. Nice units that work very well by the way.

By the way, if your heart is set on a DM, be my guest, each to his or her own. bearhunter

There is one made by voere, it doesn't seem to include .300 win mag but have a look

Yes, they can, I've done a couple. You have to work around the front trigger mounting screw issues though (drill and tap). Other then that, it's not rocket science. - dan
Got any pictures of your work? You have my attention.

+1 for the Parker Hale system. If you can locate the bottom metal for the 1200C rifles they use 4 rd detachable mags. I believe that Numrich has the mags for around $30. I have a Parker Hale 1200C in .300 Win Mag that has been fitted with a C3A1/M87 style 5 rd mag.

I've never really cared for the PH system, always seems a little less than substantial. Really early conversions had a little block dovetailed to the bottom of the receiver, later ones used a small stud silver brazed in place. The GPC price is a good one of rmagazines; have seen original PHs listed for $75.
If anyone wants to try a conversion, I MAY have most of the parts in my junk bins. Probably on the rough side, may be steel or aluminum, will definitely need refinishing. No magazines. You can have them for the postage, PM if interested, and I will see what I've got.
OK, I received a PM expressing interest.
If I can turn up more than one set, I'll mention it.
