Hey all,

I managed to get my hands on the only OD MSRP x95 in Canada a few days ago and it has a 1:7 twist barrel. Looking that up the ammo it is good with is 69 grain+.

I haven't been able to find any 69+ grain 5.56 NATO rounds anywhere in stock in Canada. Is my google fu just not strong enough? Or am I stuck flinging 55 grain 5.56 NATO out of a rifle that wants a heavier round?

Im looking for 69+grain, BRASS, 5.56 NATO rounds, if anyone knows where some are in stock.

There was some Hornady “Black” 75gn stuff on Tenda a while ago. Other than that heavy grain bulk 223 is very rare.

Also theres no guarantees that its even the best choice for your X95. Light 223 bullets can shoot very well in a fast twist barrel.

Ive seen MANY people with issues feeding 223, or steel case rounds from x95's. Primarily why I'm looking for only 5.56 NATO brass. But theres also the same amount of people saying theirs feeds...so its all dependent I guess. Ive got about 1k 5.56 NATO 55 grain federal rounds that I can use for plinking. Would like a small reserve of "nice" ammo tho.

I honestly dont know enough about ammo to know if thats a joke or not.... but the only 5.56 ammo I see is the 50 grain Federal soft point

It will eat anything but expect large groups with 55gr; I have seen people that have no idea shooting those at the range, leaving very disappointed. 62gr for 1-7 twist is ideal. Keep an eye open for pmc or lake city 62g green tips, pmc being the better of the two.

A wtb post on EE will probably do the trick; green tips can better defend you from tyranny; bonus.

The 68 or 69 will shoot well because they are match bullets. That twist will shoot 75, 77 and 80 gr bullets, too. If you are shooting 300 or further, the lower wind drift of the heavier bullets will be very noticable.

General ammo shortage. X95 is designed for CQB applications. Some 55gr 223 REM brands would group better than others. Reload if you can.

Daishi - I just have a Ruger American in .223 w-1:8 and I've found 62g pretty good for 'low-cost' instead of 69+g that ends up being 'Match' for $40/box. Right now my fav is Barnaul 62g SP, with MFS (maybe same mfr) 62g a close second. Out in NB those are about $12/bx or Less. The green tips are good too, but cost a bit more, ca $15+. I bought a box of Nosler 75g and it doesn't shoot $45 when next to $12.
YMMV
