Trying to raise the style standard

My hunting coat arrived in good order and I'm quite pleased with it, in fact extremely so. The coat itself is of very high quality overall and, thankfully under the circumstances, fits me perfectly and according to my preferences. Only the advertised 'rear game pocket' disappoints a bit, the openings are quite small and might allow the entrance of a quail or a morning dove but not much else. It was supposed to be lightweight and I was expecting something that would be extremely so by Canadian standards (like the sad tissue-paper-like versions of Barbour waxed cotton jackets I used to see down there) but this fabric is on the light side of heavyweight, exactly what I would have preferred. It will also be more unique by reason of being Harris Tweed, that segment of the tweed industry being as I said earlier out of fashion and in rather bad shape, last I knew. Whatever, I am now fashion equipped to be shot in the face by #### Cheney on a cold day, in case he ever wants to invite me out for some quail shooting- and I can carry them too.

This was a fantastic bargain, marred only by getting soaked for the extra $100 or so by UPS, who I will now avoid more than ever. I am a bit sad that my deal was at the expense of the Gaston people's going out of business: I guess mine was about the last sale they ever made in the USA.

Many thanks to the OP for posting about those bargains.

Glad to hear your so pleased with your new jacket. I'm always nervous ordering clothes online, especially if you can't return them!

I'm fairly familiar with British-fit clothing, took a chance all right, but I've long wanted that style of hunting coat and it paid off. Will I actually wear it hunting? Not so sure.
