Marlin .30-30

Well I decided to get the marlin 336 as a bush gun in .30-30.
Don't really know if I should get the A the C or the SS version.
Is SS really that good of a finish to warrant the extra 100$
What do you guys think.

Who has the 336SS by the way ?
 
Well, I have the same questionning as you, but I do have a tendencie to think that a classic lever gun has to be blued and wearing a walnut stock.

I havn't bought one yet, but I really think I'll go for the blued one.

Let us know what you decided.

Saw a real nice 336C on the weekend that someone ordered at the local shop. Very nicely fitted wood to metal. If I was going to scope a .30-30 lever gun the (blued) Marlin would be my choice.
 
I think that I have what you're after, mine is a 336XLR in 30-30, stainless & pepper laminate. I know, blued and walnut stock is very nostalgic, but stainless is great when you factor in bad weather. Not sure if I'm out to lunch here, but I've heard they are getting harder to get.

Much as I like the long-barrelled Marlins, I think the carbines make better brush guns, which is what I think he means by "bush gun."
I like the easy-care aspect of a stainless gun, so from a practical point of view I'd say yes, it's worth an extra c-note. For looks, though, I'd go with blued steel and walnut.
 
Roger, I just surfed Wholesale and SIR and the 336Y is not listed right now :confused: I'm surprised as everyone had them listed last year. You might check Russels, I'm sure there's some rifles out there some where including smaller shops one would think...
