Last spring, CGN member Pinfire kept many of us very entertained and learning new things during the initial lockdown with a very interesting thread on pinfire shotguns.

Well Steve has recently had an article published on the on line magazine The Vintage Gun Journal.

Read it here:

Congratulations Pinfire on having that article published. I enjoyed talking with you at the last SxS shoot. I think you told me much of the info contained in the article between skeet rounds!

Many thanks to everyone for the kind words, and for your continued interest in an obscure part of sporting gun history!

The Vintage Gun Journal ( https://www.vintageguns.co.uk/magazine ) is a great free-to-read on-line monthly magazine on "all things British gun and rifle," to use their words. A third article of mine should pop up in tomorrow's March edition.

For the terminally curious, a somewhat more exhaustive string of posts on early breechloaders than what I had earlier posted on CGN can be found easily enough by Googling my name and 'pinfire'.

You would think that by now everything about the subject would have been established, but the more I dig into the history of early breechloaders, the more I feel I am just scratching the surface. Every new fact leads to two more questions...

Cheers.

Congrats buddy

Cant wait for the book. Hopefully the sxs classic group could get a signed first edition!

Youve been an amazing source of knowledge and i thoroughly enjoyed seeing some of your collection at the sxs classic shoots and reading about many more on cgn

Great read and looking forward to seeing another bunch in person at the next SXS Classic
Two years ago when I saw some of Pinfire’s pinfires I was astonished by the sheer quantity of embellishment on the top end pieces, so much so that I remember feeling like I was overlooking or taking something for granted, it seemed commonplace
Really an incredible amount of detail and so finely done
Hope to take close look at some of these again!

Had the pleasure of meeting Pinfire at the YYZ SXS shoots. An extremely knowledgeable gentleman, that makes an effort and spends time to educate and share his passion with others.
