Does anyone know or can connect me with someone that would be able to get me signed up or at least on a waiting list?

I ran out and picked up all of the gear, but I've emailed the various contacts on IPSC Ontario and haven't gotten much of a reply. I then tried to inquire about IPDA, and called a few clubs that are associated based on their central website, but it appears that the few I called aren't taking calls. I would assume that perhaps some are not open or at least the office have modified schedules due to the pandemic. It would be great if I could get in touch with an instructor, etc. to at least let me know what the procedures are like this year with all of these rolling lockdowns, color codes, etc.

Hope someone can chime in, thanks.

Keep trying, especially as the weather gets a bit warmer.

I've checked the IPSC Ontario calendar, and there don't seem to be any Black Badge courses scheduled as of yet.

Try giving Double Tap Sports a call, in case they're still keeping a waitlist for BB courses. Allman at Alliston might be a good try as well.

I'm curious which contacts have you contacted? How much reply is not much?

I emailed membership, blackbadge and nroi as listed on their contacts page but haven't gotten a reply yet. I would assume that there is probably a huge backlog of emails, etc. from the ongoing pandemic and/or there is no clear plan yet for restarting matches, etc. I just want to get the qualification process done, so I have the opportunity in the summer or fall to perhaps participate.

Matches and practices at the clubs have been already restarted all right...

The BB training has nothing to do with NROI.

The membership and blackbadge is the same person. The right right person for your request really, though I'm somehow not that surprised he hasn't responded.

If you haven't got any response from BB coordinator, say in a week (even as simple as confirmation or getting your email), email the President and the rest of the board of directors stating so. It is then their responsibility to address issue with one of the organization officers not acting on the things he've been put in charge of.

Emailed those folks couple times over the last two years and never received a response. Thinking that page is dead or those people don't want to answer. Pretty disappointed at this point. Wanted to do Black badge training but not sure if anyone else is doing the training except those non responding guys.

I too am looking. Did a bunch of research and made the right contacts in 2019. Since then I've pieced together all my gear. I was gonna source a course when covid goes away, by then it maybe to late.

Those folks as in whom?

If no one replied in weeks. Spend a buck on the postal stamp and send a paper letter to the postal box. State there you where you emailed to and got no answer in weeks. This way your request won't be missed.

Anyhow, I sent question to the Ontario BoD about this. Will see what they say...

That's pretty much going to be the same at most clubs. I can't see a club shutting down one of their ranges for a weekend so non club members can attend a training course. The OP's best course of action would be to start at his club - if the club participates in IPSC then find out how the club IPSC rep is and see if they can organize a BB course. If his club does not participate in IPSC then get 8 to 10 people from the club that want to give it a try and then reach out to the BB coordinator. If the OP can organize a full class and make the necessary arrangements with the club to reserve a range for a weekend then the BB coordinator will find an instructor to go out to the host club. Failing those two options then he'll be at the mercy of a waiting list. Most instructors won't train more than 10 people at once. If a club has 8 people that want to do the course then the instructor will fill the remaining 2 spots with the wait list. That can be a long wait! He's best to be proactive if he wants get get involved!

In theory this may speed things up, but it still won't help those 10 people if Ontario BB coordinator or other directors are not replying to emails...

The Black Badge course would be awfully difficult to try to deliver under COVID precautions, and the rules have changed last-minute under too many planned events in the past year, so I'm surprised anyone is trying to teach a BB course at all now. But it looks like a lot of pent-up demand for when things return to whatever vaguely like normal we get back to, and a lot more realistic to look for a course after the all-clear from the government.

The current restrictions for public gathering do not prevent people like BB coordinator to still answer emails (as he/they supposed to do) and get organized now for the time when ranges are open then.
