Hi guys,

I'm escaping the Quebekistan wasteland friday and I'm seeing only a few 3 gun around Edmonton on Practiscore.

Is there any 2 gun in the area of Calgary ?

Cheers,

Bienvenue en Alberta! Have you checked with the CDTSA website? The club hosts competition but I am not sure if 2 guns is part of the lineup, I am just a casual shooter, but there are some 3-gun events, I think. The acronym stands for Calgary and District Target Shooters Association. The club has a waiting list, but maybe one can simply drop in to an event, if it is open to the public.

I also believe they shot 3 gun at Buffalo Target shooters. As well I think there is a group out at Drumheller. Ask well they shot 3 gun in Lethbridge and Medicine Hat.

Are you looking for long term as you’re moving to the area or a specific weekend?
Most clubs are likely just putting their schedules together.

though 2-gun is not really a thing around here, many 3-gun events are set up to allow 1,2 or 3 guns thanks to the OIC.
(2-gun was not a thing at all prior to that in the Calgary, southern AB area)

I hear that the membership has taken a big Covid-OIC reduction in renewals and no "wait list" anymore.

What are "covid reductions"? Are you referring to member deaths, or paranoia

Well I guess if i have to explain it to you... Group size gatherings allowed by the Prov. has a lot of folks Leary of spending a membership fee that they wont get to make use of at a competition level again.

From a reliable source last week: CDTSA membership renewals are down 7-800 from last year, almost 30%.

It is bizarre how varied the impact of covid can be - our club membership has increased by more than 30% since covid.

There is always attrition each year. This year more than others. The other problem is not being able to get new members because of covid restrictions preventing us for doing orientations. How we do orientation would have to change but some bylaws make it a little difficult

So rather than use the range on your own, or attend matches, these people would sooner not have a membership to one of the very few ranges available? Sounds like a smart line of thinking..

The way CDTSA structures their 3 Gun matches now (thanks OIC) you can definitely run it as 2 gun.
Schedule for 2021 June 6th, July 25th, Sept 12th.
There will be lots of info in this forum over the next few months.

I would imagine with the large number of unemployed here, a membership would be less important than paying for food, rent or mortgage etc. for at least some of those.

CDTSA will be holding 3 3-Gun matches this year! Mark your calendars for:

June 6 Registration Round Count Scores
July 25 Registration Round Count Scores
September 12 Registration Round Count Scores

Well I don't know if there is attrition but there is as much wait for the CDTSA as for seeing a specialist doctor (least a year) and the BTSA requires sponsorship so for now I am boned. T_T

Non-members are allowed at CDTSA events. If you're not on the wait list, get on it. Work is being done to get a lot of those people into the club as soon as possible.
