Thanks for posting PP. the last drive sucks always, but is done as our last kindness to our partner. Thanks

Appreciated AJ.

On a happy note, you know your force-fetch training pays off when you can send your dog to pick up the unbroken clays...

Let me see. My Giant Schnauzer has taken a total of 20 grouse in his lifetime on the wing.

And in one particular instance when money was nonexistant and we were hungry, larger prey.

We ate well that winter. Surviving off his skills as a hunter, and some root veggies in the root cellar.

A very big athletic dog. Burst speed was 62 kmh, weight was 68kgs and height at shoulder was 34"

Lost him this year at age 13 due to osteosarcoma. But what a life we had together.

He sounds awesome. I bet losing him is tough.
I lost the dog in my avatar last week. She was almost 15. I keep finding myself looking for her around the house.

Great job on the FF.
I have wanted a DD or a PP for years. I am feeling like I might be too old to start training one now. LOL!

Too old to train the dog, or too old for you to be trained? I was 56 when I got my DD, and he was willing to learn, even I was able to get him trained. lol

Probably a lot of both. ;)
But seriously, you know yourself, takes a lot of dedication to train a dog.

The whole retrieving thing. FF, stop, go, directions, land, water, hand and whistle signals. Just getting these to a basic level and keeping the skills up. That's before I think about keeping homing pigeons and quail. It would be a shame to waste a good DD.

I went out training at 5 am today to dodge the heat but I still had the cooling jackets on the boys. Bug did a nice point and retrieve on the bird and a couple of bad habits are getting corrected. I didn't get a picture of young Boone as I left my phone in the car but he stopped and pointed without needing a steady command and was stable on wing and shot ( I'm still using a starting pistol as he has not come close to starting retrieving work.

Lucy worked out pretty well this fall, after I finally got her to stop diving through barbed-wire fences at Mach 2.

Her and Kiva worked well together.

And I was happy to see Lucy backing Kiva, all on her own.

Here is Boone. I can pick him up next week. I have high hopes for this little guy. He is coming from the same breeder that my 14 year old Lab came from and he turned out to be a great bird dog and companion. Sorry about the sideways pics. I don't know why that happens sometimes.

Bug got his stem cell treatment last week for his badly damaged shoulders and hopefully there will be some improvement though I think his hunting days are done. It will be 3 months before I will know if it helped. Fingers crossed.
