Hi CGN,

I have started my little guy at the range on a 22LR. However, the S&W M&P22 I got for him was now deemed as “prohibited”. (the collapsible stock would have been perfect). I started him on a GSG16 however I only have the Dlask 9” with a fixed stock. Overall the LOP is too long for his little arms.

I have his Grandfathers Mossberg 352 22LR but that too has a long stock.

Can anyone give some pointers for either kids sized stocks or maybe rifles that can grow with my son?

Yes 8 saw the rascal but my local shop was sold out. It seems to have everything In one package. Single shot is fine as well.

Has anyone found a youth/small sized stock for a 10/22 or Ruger American rimfire?

The krg bravo is kids sized. It's pricey but one of those things you can use for you after the kids are done with it.

I just sold an American Ruger Compact with three butt stock additions.
The two youth and one adult.

These are a tad on the heavy side for a wee packaged youth.

Not to say they won't grow into them, but there are better alternatives like the
Rascal as mentioned.

I wish Ol`Paw dint gift away my first Cooey single shawt.

Easy to get a youth 10/22 stock. I had a Blackhawk Knoxx 10/22 stock. It collapsed to really short LOP. Functionally it worked great.I found the grip/trigger angle was a little odd.

How do you like your current gsg16? A stock version might be a good choice with the collapsing stock. You've already got extra mags.

The Rascal is good but if he's already been shooting your gsg he might find it boring. If he'll take to it, Rascal all the way.

For my older girls, I'm going to have them try the Keltec CMR30 with the adjustable stock. 22mag wont be a problem for them

Dlask is prepping to make a N/R barrel for the gun as well so you could shoot it anywhere and still have a fully adjustable stock.

I started my sons on a Rascal and it was good to teach them proper and safe shooting. Then I moved them up to a CZ Scout 452, which they still use and quite like shooting. Get them something they enjoy shooting and you will always have a range partner.

On the cz scout. I’m hunting for one for my kids. They are both shooting a Henry mini bolt right now.
They have been shooting it since age 5. 7 and 9 now.

I have a rascal for my kids which I have sort of turned into an adult rifle for me with a Mark II stock and big glass.
I had my little guy started on it but he found the actual length of the grip area a little awkward for him to hold and pull the trigger. Its sort of hard to explain its like they made the stock kid sized but kept the grip area adult sized. I dunno he had trouble with it anyways.

I collect10/22's in various set ups but have slimmed down my collection as of late. For me I think they are more or less the ultimate family rifle.

Since people upgrade their stocks it is easy to find spares for a decent price. They can be shortened to fit whoever needs it. In my case I have stocks for the wife, the boys and myself. If you don't want multiple rifles several companies make adjustable stocks. Although like I said I already have a few to start with.

I also have several magazines and can load one round then just switch magazines if I am concerned with Jr only having a round or two to fire.

I bought a wood stock rascal a month ago and my 7 yr old has been shooting it well. Before the rascal we were shooting an older cooey but there is a considerable size and weight difference between the two. The peep took a little getting used to for both of us but that gun is accurate for sure. Peep adjustment is a bit crude but simple to do and in no time you are dialed in and hitting pop cans. No the action is not butter smooth and the barrel finish is not a deep rich sako deluxe blue, but these guns are ~$250 and seem to be about par for their value. I know every kid is different but I couldn't imagine a semi auto of any sort as a starter rifle, even as a single shot we are piling through boxes of ammunition.
