Looking to buy my first red dot for my IWI X95 (5.56). For now I'm looking at something under $300. Considering the following two options and would appreciate any feedback/opinions on them.

Vortex Crossfire
or
Holosun HE403GL-GR Elite (Elite series, green dot)

I have 3 Holosuns including the a 403.They are awesome. Tenda has a great 3 day flash sale on right now. I like Vortex but in my opinion Holosun is a better product. Both my 403 and 503 have been put through a lot of abuse and they work flawlessly. I recently purchased a 507c for my pistol and its amazing as well. For the sale price of 249.99 for the 403 you cant beat the value.

Thanks for the feedback! I saw the sale also, very tempting at this point, might pull the trigger tonight on this. All I keep hearing is great things about holosun (besides the Chinese company part), but Vortex just seems more reputable in this field. Holosun continues to creep on all the big established optic manufacturers.. very interesting to see their offerings and great reviews.

For your rifle, are you running any magnification of just the red dot?

Vortex < Holosun

Vortex warranty is amazing ? Cool. Now tell me how useful is a warranty in the back of the bush.

Good point. So you're saying that Holosun's are more reliable than vortex? Reliability is most important to me but I don't have much experience with optics.

Holosun for budget red dots, only decent red dot from Vortex is the Razor. I had 3 crossfires and 1 venom all went bad that had to be sent back for warranty. I have a couple of Holoson 510C’s that stand up to the abuse of shotgun’s / pcc’s with no issues.

I like Vortex optics but no more red dots for me.

Holosun, 507k and the 509t for pistol optics, great value and reticle choices, IMO.

I have a 507C X2 with the ACSS Vulcan reticle from primary arms on the way shortly for the glock, but need something for my rifle. Looks like another Holosun might be it..

I've killed a couple of Holosuns but it's pretty hard to do. Killed a few Vortex too. Vortex warranty service is really painless but Holosun warranty isn't too difficult either. Vortex AR series are good, I'm not as much a fan of the Crossfire so in this case Holosun is the one I would go for.

I picked up a Sparc solar for a blackout build. Seems well built, really like the shake awake and solar cell but way too early to tell how durable it is.

I'm not sure of warranty for Holosun (we don't carry them) but Vortex have a lifetime warranty and unless this has recently changed this includes all electronic optics which as far as I know is unique in the optics business. Phil.

Well my vote was for and is for Vortex. I just bought 3 x Strikefire IIs in the past month or so, not the least reason of which was the awesome lifetime warranty that covers even inadvertent (not deliberate or intentional damage). If they can't fix it, they will send you a replacement.

I will say yes. Look up Sage Dynamics on Youtube. War Poet Society (WPSN) also adopted Holosun. If it's good enough for these 2 gents, it's good nuff for me.

All I see in this thread is half saying Holosun are amazing products. The other half says Vortex has a great warranty.

I don't work for Holosun or sh!t on Vortex.
I just feel like Vortex is now sitting on their reputation rather than innovating. Reminds me of Samsung a few years ago lol

They are both good products, altho I personally think Holosun is offering more for your buck right now.

Holosun elite warranty is lifetime as well. From what I can tell it's on all their newer optics except for maybe a couple low end red dots, but their green dots are covered.
