What would you use for an all-round gun?

Out of your choices I’d look for a cz527 carbine in 223 with an NECG rear sight and sourdough front.

If it were me I’d get a stainless tikka 223 and an SWFA 6x MQ

I have this setup except mine wears the 3-9 HD MQ. It’s a great rig.

I ended up with one of the last 25 Kimber Montanas in 223 with a 3-9 swfa on it. It’s a fantastic rifle but if I’m to be honest the stainless tikka is a better bang for your buck. If I hadn’t impulsively bought the kimber I’d have been perfectly happy with the tikka.

*Has to be 22 Cal or less*

Yup, otherwise I’ll stick with my T3 CTR in .308, the money that would go into another gun and buy iron sights and a nicer stock. I’d love a 7.62x39 though, but that would be two guns. Anyone from NB know the inside scoop on the possible rule changes?

I’ll keep my eyes peeled for a CZ. I’ll want to play with one before I buy one.

I'd be happy with a Ruger American Predator in 22-250 fer working the woods in NB. Bare rifle weighs 6.6 lbs. Add a lightweight scope to 'er like a Leupold VX3 1-4x20 unit and Bob's yer uncle. Good shooters they be for the pesos.

Skinner doesn’t require front replacement but does need drill and tap on a 527.

My 527 has the non adjustable bead, very nice fine sight for longer shots with the peep. It also has a really cool button on the right base in front of the blade. Depress and you can remove the blade.

Obviously I changed mind but the fixed barre mounted sight it came with was great.

Can’t speak for the 223/556 but the 7.62x39 happily digests whatever random #### ammo from a former com bloc country is put into it with aplomb.

A Marlin in 444 Remington.
Done and done and you can eat right up to the hole too.

Yes, ;) still have a sample in the safe. A Marlin 444S and used with Hornady 265gr handloads, it has served well over the years. I've taken a number of Moose with it and a buddy just starting used it successfully on his first two Moose trips with me to the B.C. central interior. The last few years to my cabin up there, it has come as a spare rifle and I wouldn't hesitate to use it if or when the need should arise:).

Are these Ruger Ranch rifles quality? The pictures sure make it look like they come with a super cheap stock. How’s the quality of the action and trigger? I’m scared they are in the same league as the Savage Axis whereas the Gunsite is a legit rifle.

The stocks be cheap to make, but they have an alloy v-block setup that works fine for bedding the action. The hollow butt of the stock is easy to pack with rock wool insulation to tone down the hollow sound. I like the tupperware stock as it fits me well and has great gripping surfaces for wet days. The triggers are fine for lots of folks and for those wanting a super nice trigger, Timney has ye covered.

The Ruger American series are good value for the coin and are solid performers in the fields & woods. The actions are strong & reliable and the hammer forged barrels are beauty.

The Axis units shoot good but it sucks show up at the range or hunt camp with the rifle packed in a brown paper bag. ;) :runaway:

I am very partial to Howa 1500 or Weatherby Vanguard in any preferred calibre....solid smooth well made in Japan rifle....may be a bit heavy to carry but something is sporter barrel would keep the weight down
such as this Howa 1500 mini action in 7.62X39
