Vortex or Holusun

Found on Holosun main website (US) that as stated just above, Elite products (green or gold dot, or any dot with titanium housing) are lifetime warranty for housing, glass and electronics. I picked up the Holosun on sale right now at 250, now want to pair it with a magnifier, and debating between the ones from, again, Holosun and Vortex..

Just from a warranty perspective, Holosun stuff has a very limited lifetime warranty, limited to the original owner only, needs to be registered first and is non-transferable, meaning zero warranty on used Holosuns, and only lifetime for the metal structure/housing. Glass is usually only 5 year (lifetime on Elite models for original owner), electronics and LED is usually only 3 year (10 years on Elite models for original owner).

In contrast, Vortex stuff has full lifetime warranty on everything, for any reason, for any owner, at anytime, forever... No sales receipts and no registration required, no questions asked.

Personally I'd never buy a used Holosun, and contemplate buying a new one because it has zero warranty when selling it, not so good for resale, but most people are none the wiser.

Went back on the Holosun US site and under the warranty section is gives the timeframes you listed above for Elite. But when you go into the product FAQs section on that same site, the first section explains the warranty and there it says that Elite is lifetime for housing, glass and electronics (LED might be limited to 10 years). So now I'm not sure which is right.. but you're correct that the product must be registered and is non transferable

A snippet from their website:

HOLOSUN® Elite Warranty:

...Under the Holosun Elite Warranty, the illumination system (LED and electronics), is warrantied for 10 years from the manufacture date under normal, personal use."...

I didn't dive into the FAQs, but I think they'd use this instead. 10 years is a long time though.

I get a kick outta guys on EE and GP who sell their new, recently purchased sights from manufacturers with a warranty only available to original owners, saying "save the tax" or "10% off new!"

Sweet thanks for eating up the warranty A$$hole! lol

Here's the FAQ section for anyone interested:

The Elite warranty includes Red Dot sights with Titanium housings, Green and Gold dot sights with Aluminum or Titanium housings, and Lasers with Titanium housings.

· GLASS: LIFETIME WARRANTY AGAINST MANUFACTURING DEFECTS

· ELECTRONICS: LIFETIME WARRANTY AGAINST MANUFACTURING DEFECTS*

*The LED has a lifetime of 10 years and may not be replaced beyond its lifetime.

Just curious if anyone has taken advantage of either one of these warranties and how the repair/replacement actually went...some companies would say one thing on a warranty but when push comes to shove, they may put all sorts of stipulations in at the time of service....

I cannot speak for the Holosun warranty bit I have used tue Bortex warranty. Bought a Sparc here used. Went to swap to the high base and stripped the screw head (Vortex used to put the Loctite on the screws at the factory). I emailed them on a Monday to see how to get it out, which they gave me a couple options that did not work. They asked me to send it in and they would get it out. I priority shipped it to them and had an invoice in 2 days for $0, not really sure waht it was for. Friday afternoon there was a brand new Sparc 2 in the mailbox.
