Is Bergara B14R the Vudoo killer?

Many folks will buy the Vudoo purely because it's prohibitively expensive. This is regardless of what it offers in the accuracy department. Human nature is a funny thing. I'm pretty sure among shooters Bergara will sell very well indeed, but I don't see it affecting Vudoo sales.

I bought my Vudoo in spite of the price, I could have spent more on a Carbon barrel, and an adjustable stock, but the idea was not to spend any more than required to obtain the rifle that I wanted.

You're not an "average" shooter though. I'm not saying that the Vudoo isn't priced according to quality, just that a large percentage of buyers will be buying "man jewellery". If you're a diver and you buy a Submariner, there's a pretty good chance you know what, why and how - that doesn't describe the majority of folks who buy them. Same thing here, they're a great tool, but most people who will buy them will never find that out.

The Bergara will probably settle in once I wear the burrs off the throat. Took a look with my borescope and looks like they used a dull chamber reamer.

If the burrs are significant, they're likely going to be there for good.

I say that because the burrs in the leade of my CZ 452 have been there for over 7000 rounds and show no signs of wearing down.

As you said, I'd have been happier not knowing what the inside of this barrel looked like. It's surprising that it shoots as well as it does.

Why does barrel length matter? I thought the sweet spot for a 22 was 16-18"? Anything longer and you lose velocity, and barrel length doesn't increase accuracy (unless you're talking iron sights, but then it's the sight radius not the barrel length that is really effecting accuracy?)

Too much is made of this short barrel is better business.

I was speaking with a 22LR bench rest shooter yesterday who told me he is using a 28 inch barrel. He's an excellent shooter and frequents this forum.

I think you are missing the point of the voodoo’s intended market.

18-22 is just perfect for 22 and PRS rimfire. Unless shooting iron sights

You tend to confuse f-class to PRS and now rimfire PRS to benchrest

While I don’t think I’ll spend the money on a vudoo I would like to see a head to head shoot out. Ie: 50 rds each of 5 good brands and 2 shooters shooting each gun. Will mean very little but I like the idea.

Actually I do see the point, and the point behind the point, and the point behind that.

What I fail to comprehend is how little the average person has the capacity to comprehend and how much such a person can misinterpret.

I also see the bias in your own post suggesting the voodoo is just "perfect" for 22 and PRS rimfire, when actually it is not. It's popular yes, but "perfect" is a very high standard and illustrates your lack of capacity for innovation.

At the very leas the voodoo with the barrels described do not have the balance that would make them "perfect" for PRS. This point is common knowledge among everyone in the shooting world who actually has common knowledge.

If a guy wants a butt heavy rifle, the realistic difference between the Bergara and voodoo is actually quite minimal if you are objective about the actual difference in practical terms within the scope of a PRS competition.

Now a guy with no insight will start looking to quote who at what match won with one or the other. That does not illustrate one is better than the other, just what the better shooter happens to prefer.

Well our top jr finished 9th overall in Ontario with a old $200 savage....

I own a Bergara and tikka. The Bergara is nowhere as good as the tikka. The nicest I have used to date is a Rimx.

And your balance point is solved by weights. A long barrel is not the answer.

I don't have a horse in this race, but too often what is said to be common knowledge isn't really something that most people would know. Is there any further information published online or links to sources confirming that shooters in PRS games generally agree that Vudoo V22 rifles are indeed poorly balanced?

I guess the answer is it depends. Vudoos from the shop come with many options for brl length, but seems in Canada 20 inches is the max to date. Coming in as barreled actions means that it is really up to you how you put it together. Foe those using it as a Center-fire PRS Trainer use the same chassis as your main PRS gun and weight it how you like it. If your primary use is .22 PRS, well pick whatever you like. Have shot my friends in a MDT ACC and with weights it balances just fine

Longbow, what question does your answer "it depends" address?

I should have been clearer. I am not saying the Vudoo is the perfect PRS rifle by any stretch but it is pretty darn good, to say it is poorly balanced does not take into account the multiple configurations(barrel length different stocks, adding weights, common in chassis for PRS etc)

As indicated configured how my buddies is, it is very balanced...bit heavy but hey some folks are shooting 32lb+ 6MM in the PRS game

Adjusting rifle balance is not difficult. A $1500 rifle better than a $3500-$4500 rifle because the front is heavier or lighter? Maple, please shoot some Rimfire PRS matches so we can attach the proper significance to your know it all presentation. Even the outlaw matches would do. If you finish very well then maybe we will all apologize for questioning you. If not, we’ll my mom is nicer to listen to and just as useful.

What is the issue with the balance. Do people want it more muzzle heavy?

I like muzzle heavy. Some like balance right in front of the mag well.
Issue is some glass is upwards of 3 lbs. sitting on top and behind the magwell. So lose it in the rear and add to the front. Or add a lot more to the front

A related question:

Is CZ 457 the B14R killer?

No. Just as do not think the B14R are a vudoo killer. I had a 457MTR in a MDT ACC great gun but I believe the B-4R is an up grade. I think the Bergara could be an equal to the Vudoo. All comes down to how much you want to spent. The gun is the cheap part. Feeding it is where I believe the most focus should be. Find the ammo and the lot that shoots the best out of what ever rifle you are using. That is where all you money is best spent.

At the end of the day unless you are being paid to shoot for someone just go out and have some fun.

Or I am completely wrong in which case whatever
