Hi all,
looking to find a single-point sling for a pump action shotgun.
Now, I know it's currently easy to find...but I want this to be NOT MADE IN CHINA.
And it just became not so easy to find!

So all I need to know are the names of some more local sling makers...

thank you,

Eric

More of a 'black and green' shotgun question. A sporting shotgun will tend to be way too long for a single point sling, but anyway the most versatile such sling I've seen was made by Magpul and was being sold at a Walmart in the USA. What you basically want is a sling designed to attach to the firearm with a velcro strap that will go around a narrow part of the stock as opposed to one that mounts on a regular sling mount or other dedicated attachment point. You can probably make your own attachment strap with velcro fitted webbing and a standard D ring. A sling with that sort of system will allow you to carry your gun without the muzzle dragging on the ground.

I've never heard mention of a local sling maker anywhere BTW. That would be interesting.

True north arms carrys a selection of magpul and some others. Ive bought alot from them. Always great service

You may get more responses in the black shotgun forum though

Buy a good two point that can be converted to a single point, like a Vickers or Magpul if you can’t find a Vickers. Single point slings suck for hunting or stomping around the bush.

For a 2 point, you would still have to get almost any sporting shotgun fitted with sling mounts, a worse problem than finding a sling I think.

Not all that terrible but I’m sure worse when it comes to sxs or some o/u guns it can be trickier than say a pump or semi auto. I just picked up some 12g barrel band kits for some M37’s and a Cooey84 so I can mount slings without modifying things permanently. A hunting gun without a sling is pretty useless for me.

What shotgun is it for? Is there mounting points?

I'm running an ms4 on my 590A1 and it's amazing. I used to be sold to BFG Vickers slings but the Magpul is much better!

There are slings designed for sporting guns.....SxS and O/U that do not require sling mounts and are quite effective.

Not single point ones though, Canvas.

BB, I didn’t mean to suggest single point slings were available that didn’t need attachment points. Just that two point slings were.

So then Magpul. 5.11 maybe, Blackhawk for sure. All Chinese made though, I'm guessing.

Vickers sling is made in the USA, I can only compare it to the Magpul as I have both and the Vickers is better made and has a more secure slider. The webbing has more friction and the slider stays put when you adjust it, the Magpul sling is slicker like a seatbelt and their slider isn’t as locked if you know what I mean. The Vickers has better retention yet their slider is easy to move. Have been using both on hunting rifles and shotguns for a few years now.

OK, I didn't mention Vickers because I didn't know they were even available in Canada.

OK, I was actually hoping I was wrong and someone had worked one out. Still wouldn't want a sling on a bird gun, but a one point wouldn't completely flummox you if a grouse or whatever broke cover.
