I am looking for a gunsmith that can drill and tap a barrel for a scope mount, does not seem anyone can recommend anyone in Winnipeg, so looking for someone you trust, thanks in advance

What kind of a scope mount? What threads? What barrel? Do you have the mount?

For a Malcolm vintage 32" long scope, they recommend a 8-40 screw, Pedersoli octagon barrel form a 1885 High Wall, will have the mount is about 1 week, just ordered everything. Here is a video to install the rear mount, this is where the holes have to be drilled and tapped

That is a fairly straight forward job... the critical part is locating the holes accurately... then the drilling and tapping and finishing with a fresh bottoming tap... many, many smiths are qualified to do this... you just need to find one close to you or end up mailing it off...

I was hoping to find someone close, as the rifle is a heavy beast and would be a fortune to ship it off somewhere, I have checked with the referrals I have received, one is closed because of Covid and the other does not have the tap to do it. I checked with Wolverine Supplies, talked to one of there experts with these scopes and he was going to check with their gunsmith, told me he would call me back, have not heard from him and left 2 messages at their shop, it has been 2 1/2 weeks and no one called back. So I ended up buying scope and mounts from another supplier

If that barrel already has a dove tail cut into it for a rear sight, I would just have a dove-tail blank cut and drill & tap it instead of the barrel...The rear ring on a Malcolm can be slid & positioned anywhere that is convenient. Any close by gunsmith or machine shop will be able to easily make a blank.

if you provide me with a text # , I will send you a photo of mine mounted on my RB.
