Been seeing a few recoever sets pop up lately and was wondering about them. People are saying the are non restriced on the FRT but I am having a hard time find it. Does it have an FRT Status? If I had one and got pulled over, how would the RCMP check the status?

It has no FRT of its own. It is a copy of the modern sporter which was not part of the OIC but that the RCMP decided to change to prohibited. So if you get pulled over it will be considered a prohibited firearm by the police. This is currently being fought in court.

It is not on the OIC or not in the FRT as prohibited. Call the CFO and you will find out......it’s not an MS.

^^
I disagree with this advice. Never call the CFO.
It is a copy of the MS, only difference being the name, 6061 and an integral shell deflector. So maybe that is enough?
Who knows, Murray Smith testified that shotguns and bolt guns are AR variants so I guess anything is now.

The best advice might be to have legal defense if you get into either platforn

If it has no FRT, then why would it be considered prohibited? Wouldn't the RCMP just have no record in their system? In the event they pull you over - how would they discern the SAI TSR as a Modern Sporter clone just by looking at it?

Only a gun nut would know, imo.

They wouldn't, they'd look at it and say "That looks like an AR15, we're going to confiscate it and charge you as if it is. Maybe it'll turn out that it isn't and your charge is dropped, but we'll have made some overtime and you'll have dropped a couple of thou on a lawyer, so everyone but you wins."

Don't expect logic, consistency or knowledge of firearms and the firearms act from your interactions with a LEO and you'll not be disappointed.

This... guaranteed....

I have a printed off copy of the OICs to show that it is not listed as prohib and I keep it in the case. FRT is not law. Its a joy to shoot and having the freedom of a NR is great to have again in this platform. Worth every penny

I agree there is no logic anymore, but have a printed copy of the OIC which is currently law and bobs your uncle. The Renegade doesn’t have an FRT entry just like some others.

This.

I carry pre and post FRT's for my ATRS MS, and the OIC list for my wife's Sterling TSR. I also carry firearm insurance through Capri and if they (LEO) want to confiscate, then I am happy to a) use my insurance or b) fight it with my own cash. I've had enough of the RCMP FRT bull####; another reason why EVERYONE needs to dig deep and support ATRS and their legal action against the Feds, RCMP, and AB CFO.

It's not prohibited by OIC nor FRT.

Oic states all ar15, all Ar15 variants. And all modified versions of ar15’s are prohib. The list is a sample. It does not need to be compleate.

The modified category is a new one created by this oic.

The ms was deemed not an ar15 varient under previous law

But now we need to figure out Is the ms a modified ar15? Ask a judge...

Even the SFSS isn’t saying they’re AR15 variants. They aren’t saying they are “modified” AR15’s. They’re saying they are AR10 variants.

I believe the FRT just says "Para 87" or something to that effect which include AR10&15
87 The firearms of the designs commonly known as the M16, AR-10 and AR-15 rifles and the M4 carbine, and any variants or modified versions of them

The modern sporter is none of those so...

Interesting, where did you see they’re saying it’s AR10 variants?

I don't remember the printed source, but I believe it was Murray Smith that said the ATRS MS was a AR10 variant in his affidavit. I'm not sure where he'd come up with something like this, the MS is most definitely not an AR-10 variant and more than it's an AR-15 variant.
