Finally got my first bear mounted

If you are trying to call me an A-Hole, just get on with it.

I'll take it in my usual manner. Like a compliment from someone I have respect for!

The bear died with it's head in a bucket of junk food. But nobody seems too keen on just posing him by the door with a bucket of KFC!

The 'Bear launches itself at it's prey' pose, really deserves any disdain it may accrue.

Mount it and make it look like anything other than it died as a fighting dangerous beast, and I don't really care.

Classic BC anti-baiting (uninformed) attitude, and zero need to post the slight on a thread where a guy is simply posting a mount he is proud of. Like shooting off the hood of your truck at an unsuspecting grazing bear is somehow morally superior.

P.S - "Interior BC" = "Inside Brown Colon"... when it applies.

that's a great mount, congrats on the bear !
seen bear sign in the yard and one of my fences is in need of repair and it left some hair in the barbed wired.
Still hanging on to winter here so if the bears are up..... there isn't much food around.
Have seen fresh cougar sign around the property in the last few weeks with tracks in the snow at my shop door LOL

spring is here, time to go buy some tags I guess

Oh FFS, I don't really give a pinch of poo HOW the bear was shot, or if you want to pile donuts up so as to have them come to where you sit waiting.

So try not to read anything in to what I said, that I didn't.

The bear that is on the wall is posed up like it never was or would have been in life. The leaping attack pose is laughable. Especially on a bear that was shot while it's head was in a bucket of junk food. Clear enough?
For all the realism represented in the Taxidermy, it should have been given a set of antlers, and have a stogie clenched in it's teeth!

Apologies to the OP for any derail...

BUT, I didn't "read into" your post... because you repeat it every time you write... an arrogant self-righteous slur against "baiting" bears, even though the success rates in ON are basically the same as in BC... not quite the walk-in-the-park, unfair advantage your slighting comments suggest.

As for the pose, who cares if that is what he wanted... if he had it posed on the toilet reading the Sunday paper, why would you care, or feel the need to comment on repeatedly.

That's funny as heck, right out of a Far Side cartoon! Pretty sure it's one anyway. The one where the guy is in one room telling about the great shot he made, while in the other room his wife is telling everyone there about the car running into the deer.

Funny that nobody get the Taxidermist to mount them the way they died, with their head down in a bucket of junk food!

Sorry man, didn't mean to offend you with my bear mount. For sure I'll reach out to you next time so you let me know the right way.

Don’t let anyone belittle your accomplishment. As others have said, if you enjoy the mount then that is all that matters. Like practically all art, mounts are a very personal, subjective thing so anyone passing judgement on yours is not worth worrying about.

Pull whatever stick you have up your butt loose, and walk upright, instead of uptight, dude.

Slur? LOL!

No slur, facts. I have a pretty solid grasp on what guys are using for bear bait. Not a lot of Organic Wheat Grass Sprouts and Soy Protein based stuff (well, maybe some). I don't actually care if the bear had it's head in a bucket of junk food or was shot from a frikken helicopter as it ran away in a panic. Dead bears is good. Shoot 'em all, for what I care. Collect the whole set!
I certainly am not against baiting them.

I think the pose of the bear, is laughable. A comic book version of what Black Bears do in reality. And THAT'S why I feel the need to comment.
But I do like the Toilet and newspaper suggestion. It'd be at least as accurate a depiction of a Black Bear in a natural pose. I think it'd actually make a pretty funny mount, set up in the Camp Outhouse!

Having it posed like that by the Taxidermist, after it was shot while eating at the bait bucket, makes it even funnier.

It is pretty likely I have more experience with bears, having outfitted and guided for them for a couple decades. I have been bluff charged dozens of times and real charged three times... I have watched bears for hundreds of hours, countless times putting the run on other bears... so I have seen that Taxidermy pose in real life in the wild many, many times... it represents a very small segment of bear behavior, but it is not an unreasonable pose, even if the hunter did not experience it personally. You might have seen it too, if you could pull your head out of your smug azz.

So...

Stick is still there, eh? LOL!

I'm sorta sorry you feel that way!
But mostly, sorta not.

Congrats on the bear harvest!

Nice mount, I like it. And awesome looking taxidermy wall of species.

Really nice job on the skull. As a retired Biologist I appreciate that because skulls, jaws, teeth are really important in wildlife science. In school our mammalogy lab had many mammal species skulls for comparative study. If that skull ever starts to clutter up the place (haha), I know many schools would love to have it for biological science labs.

Nice gun rack. I don't own any lever actions, but I am thinking more and more that I need one.
