Is there a deep body of water near by? And how far could you throw them off the dock?
I am not familiar with those bullets but I did try some .308,155 gr Match Burners. Worst 155 gr bullet I have ever tried to shoot. Would not hold the bull at 300m, barely hold the 4 ring at 500-600 and wouldn’t hold the black at 1000 yards.
Picked up 112 6mm for some testing
Anyone have tips?
6CM 1.75 twist
I bought several 100 112gn MB's. I weigh sorted them into 4 batches.
Suffice to say they are a little loose on quality control.
They have a very good BC and at 6CM velocities will rival the 6.5-284, 300WM for drop and drift at 1000 yards.
Price is right, good for plinking steel, need to be sorted for small groups though.
Maybe they real do burn your match..... lol I will get some loaded up and give them a shot
Not only a Match Burner, but an Agg killer too. Sadly I could only test at 100m and thought I had a good load that was 1 gr over my usual load with 155 gr bullets. Huge mistake on my part for loading up a bunch to shoot at the CFRC.
69gr .224 BMB in my .223 bolt gun have been next to awesome. Right up there, just on the heels of the 69gr SMK. I have tried the 6.5 and .308 offerings with massive disappointment. That is all I can say.
In my 6.5cm I shot ten 5 shot groups, with 5 different powders with 140gr MB that averaged 0.6moa
why blame the bullet for poor load development practices?
Sorry for the question, but I'm curious since I'm a newbie, and like you, only have access to a 100m range. What kind of group shooting test did you do that seemed ok at 100m, that turned to crap for you at longer distances? I'm trying to learn what to look for. With limited range time and limited to 100m I did do some load development. I figured if I could get the Match Burners to consistently group as well as my SMK's that they would be good to go. This method has worked for every other 155 gr bullets that I have used. Little did I know the Match Burners would turn a good match barrel into a bullet hose beyond 100m. After shooting a couple relays I finally clued in and switched back to SMK's and everything settled back in. Yes, testing at long range would have been great if there was a range close enough.
