.22 lr bird shot

I "patterned" some out of one of my .22's at the range one day. The pattern is about dinner-plate size at about 5-7 yards, and it will punch paper at up to 25 yards (although by then the spread isn't very consistent). I'd say it's good stuff for rats and pigeons in confined places like barns.

I took the bird shot to the range last Sunday and they didn't even puncture the target at 25 yards. The shells didnt even cycle the action so i had to take out the magazine and cycle the action a few times to get them to come out. After 4 or 5 shot I gave up and didn't bother shotting the rest off. So I clearly wasted 12 bucks for nothing. I can't even see a purpose for those things, I'd be better off using regular 22's to kill and rat or bird or whatever they were designed for.

When we were kids we used to use them to shoot pigeons and other pests inside the barn. One well placed shot was all that was needed on most birds!Mind you, you had to get up pretty close...15-20ft or so!
