209 muzzleloading primer, why can't they be used to reload shotshell?

If you look in any shotgun reloading manual you will see that they are very particular about each component for every listed load. Even primers are identified by name and model. The reason is that many listed shotgun loads are close to maximum pressures and even tiny changes or substitutions can cause large changes in shotshell pressures. Think how thin shotgun barrels are. Think how many old rickety shotguns are still in use. 209 shotgun primers in your muzzleloader? Go ahead, fill your boots. Muzzleloader primers in your shotgun? Fill your pants.
