does anyone know the correct way to repair the cartridge stop on a win 94 30-30? pre 64. it is jamming a shell under the carrier regularly, no matter how the action is cycled. i know it’s the cartridge stop on the link, but how to repair it? no gunsmiths around here, so thinking of doing it myself. have no problem taking rifle apart, and can weld it and file it if needed. but not sure what type of metal it is made from. could also braze it, but think that’s too soft. haven’t been able to find a replacement link in canada yet, but still looking. thx for any help or ideas.

I have pounded on that little 'tit' with a flat hammer and a flat piece of steel to remove the deformation and restore function. It's easier than welding... it's cold forging.. it's fairly soft steel.
Welding would be the next step..

thanks! i haven’t pulled it out yet, so hopefully it’s just deformed a bit. i assumed it would be worn or broken. reshaping i can do!! welding i can do as well, but i’d rather not have to.

I've done this as well, although I see it more on Post 64 rifles.
