PAL Wait Time

Called yesterday, i have to send in a new photo aswell. Do i have to wait for them to send me the letter or can i send the picture with the photo Guarantor label?

I had to send in a new photo and they told me on phone I didn’t have to wait for letter and I could just send it in. So I did just that the next business day via Xpresspost. I just attached a letter and included my application # as listed online. It’s still in transit so hopefully they won’t take a long time to process it once received.

UPDATE!!

So, after dealing with Canada Post hiccup, i ended up resending my application later express post Jan 10....Received: Jan 14.

THEY GOT THE ORIGINAL APPLICATION!!

Sent December 19th
Received December 31st
CC Charged: April 16th
Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date.

Sounds like i have to call the RCMP and tell them the situation before more hiccups for double applicaion. Hopefully the first gets completed before the second one gets started.

Has any early December applicants received their card in the mail yet?

I called them beginning of March to see if i need to do anythign else, and she said said that licence has been sent to... (i couldnt hear her properly, so i assumed she said provincial authority) and she said it usually takes them 4 to 6 weeks.

I called again mid April, and the lady said that something strange is going on, something on my application wasnt properly scanned, and she doesnt know why, and she put a note to scan it properly. She also said it is a good thing I called them. Who knows how long it would just stay there unscanned. Couple of days after that my application was approved.

So I guess the point is, call them once a month to see what's going in, just in case...

Im with you. Mine was December 14, issued April 9th. I handled the 4 month application wait better than this day to day mailbox checking. I was hoping to see some people saying they got theirs as well.

Congrats on finally getting it! Not a short wait.

Remember there are many covid issues slowing delivery, but yeah will be feeling the same pain soon.

Glad Im not the only one. I was issued April 12th, lets just say if it doesn't arrive tomorrow, there will be some choice phone calls Monday.

This is such BS.

The way I understand it (and was basically told by the RCMP) is that once it completes 'initial processing' that means it is forwarded to the CFO to make the decision (which according to their website is 45 days but could be 90 days with the covid excuse), it is my understanding that the initial process is checking to ensure all T's are crossed and I's are dotted, plus payment has been made before forwarding to CFO for approval.

These wait times are getting retarded. I just wish there was something that could be done to hold their feet to the fire over this BS. I doubt that the ombudsman or my MP would get any better results than just waiting, but honestly I am getting fed up myself it has been almost 6 months for an upgrade, I got my pal approved in exactly 28 days when I first applied, and would've been sooner had it not been for the waiting period I am sure. Covid is a pretty lame excuse for 5x longer wait.

I wouldn't write off what an Ombudsman can do. A few years ago we had a slowdown in Ontario where private transfers were taking 2-3 months MIN. I was almost at the 4 month mark (3 pistols, 1 AR) and finally had enough. I called the Ombudsman and filed a complaint. Maybe 2-3 days later he called me back and we discussed the issue. Later on the day he called and said everything has been transferred.
