Stock pinning question: Axiom with 10 inch barrel

Hey all, I seem to recall coming across a 10” barreled 10/22 in an Axiom stock that was pinned to keep OAL at 26”.

Any advice on pinning to keep the stock from collapsing too far for legal OAL.

I’ve debated just a simple pin but I seem to recall the mod cannot be easily undone in order to be legal.

Are folks using epoxy to keep the pin in place?

Any photos of a 10” in an Axiom kicking around? I’m debating a 12” barrel or 10” barrel. As I said I know there are but I can’t seem to find them again.

Thanks.

The folding is a yes/no qualification. If it doesn’t fold, then it doesn’t fold. It’s just that simple. There are no other requirements that need to be met. It doesn’t matter how that that is achieved.

The one I used to have I used a roll-pin and epoxied it to make it permanent. It was a 9" Whistlepig barrel and damn was that little bugger light!
One of many I wish I had never sold.

I think your rifle was the photo I’ve been looking for.

You can just see the pin if you zoom in on the photo.

Thanks for sharing. I don’t see a 9” barrel on the WhistlePig site, wonder if they no longer offer that length?

10” or 12” now, thinking the 10” would be nice.

A 12.5" barrel in an Axiom with a MFT Minimalist is 27" fully collapsed.

restricted firearm means

prohibited firearm means
(b)#a firearm that is adapted from a rifle or shotgun, whether by sawing, cutting or any other alteration, and that, as so adapted,

(i)#is less than 660 mm in length, or

(ii)#is 660 mm or greater in length and has a barrel less than 457 mm in length

I understand that which is why I’m planning to pin the stock so it cannot collapse lower than 26” OAL.

Pinned stocks have been used to maintain OAL requirements. Just curious how folks have pinned them in the past.

IIRC it was from a run of Charger length barrels that Whistlepig produced sometime ago.
I have imported multiple Acculite barrels from WhistlePig, the proprietor Louis is very easy to talk to and has expressed interest in breaking in to the Canadian market.
Carbon fiber barrels are sold in Canada but they just don't compare with Acculite aluminum barrels in the weight department.

TacSol did a run of 10" Charger barrels a few years back and I bought one off of IRunGuns site, and even though they are constructed similarly to WhistlePig barrels the accuracy was never there, same experience with TacSol 16" barels as well.

Here's a photo of a 10" Whistlepig I'm running currently on my Takedown, and even though it is lightweight it doesn't come close to that Axiom stocked one I used to own. That rifle was an absolute feather!

Thanks, that’s great to hear. Louis has been great so far, working on importing a few barrels.

That takedown, what front sight is that? Did you install it yourself? I’ve been looking for a low profile set of sights like you’ve got there.

It's a complete ramped front sight from a factory marlin 1894/1895. I timed the thread protector and then drilled and tapped it...it fit perfectly and removing the thread protector takes the whole front sight off with it.
Rear is the Williams "Ace in the Hole" sight/rail combo.

Be sure and post pics when you get your barrels, it's always great to see Acculites installed this side of the border.

I will be sure to post photo for sure.

I’ve done several SBR type 10/22 builds and I hope this one turns out as well in reality as it has in my mind. lol.

Great job with that front sight install. Looks like a factory job. Well done.
