Hi CGN,

Are there any CGNers who have the 7.62x39 versions of this rifle?
There were a few available a while back.

Any user feedback would be great!

I’ve seen the upper kits available but I’m waiting for a complete rifle.

I’ll look at the 7.62x39 upper from SBI. However I’ll just get an entire rifle. I have a CMMG Mk47 (that’s now in storage) and I miss a non-SKS semi auto in 7.62x39...

This is latest build in the Calibre.

Are they still even being made?

I don't think they are

Tactical Imports brought in their last shipment of the Type 81 LMG model late last year. They resold the last part of their shipment to other retailers, some of which still have inventory available.

TI had also stated they may have further rifle models, both folding and solid stock, available later this year, piggybacking on a possible sale from the factory to a non-Chinese government state actor for their military.

Thanks guys. I’ve shot a T81 but it doesn’t feel like a $2k rifle.

My options are the 7.62x39 WK / MSR (takes XCR mags)
Or the M+M rifles that take AK mags... feels like It may be worth the money

I may get flak for this but the WK / MSR definitely does not feel like a 2k rifle at all, whereas the T81 runs like a clock without any hiccups out of the box. It goes bang every single time. I've had a few T81s and still have one it's a joy to shoot. Yes, it's basically an SKS with AK-like furniture, yes, it's not as "refined" looking as an AR, but neither is a WK /MCR (see sharp edges and inconsistent finishes in receivers and throwaway furniture and trigger from factory).

Whereas the WK / MCR is your mileage may vary and newer ones seem to have a lot more issues. I don't have a 7.62x39 one but I have a couple in .223/5.56 and I've been lucky with mine thankfully but by no means do they feel like 2 thousand-dollar rifles regardless of how much money I throw at them. I'm not complaining and thankful that they exist and we can buy them and enjoy them but they're not "quality" rifles imo. Your mileage may vary.

I don't have personal experience with M+M rifles but have read enough about them online that I would never consider one.

This is a personal opinion.

18.6 inch barrel with the shroud? It creates the appearance of being shorter. Just asking since I am considering a fake can for my 5.56 version.

I want to hear how well the MS-MCR digests steel case surplus ammo.
Bulk surplus is the main attraction for any x39 platform.

Modern brass case commercial x39 ammo should not be a problem for ANY x39 rifle.

I’ve got a low round count through a MCR in x39. Waiting on my xcr mags to get here, the mag that comes with has had a couple feeding issues early on but probably just needed I be used a little. I’ve got a couple 556 mags that fit 3 x39 rounds and it feeds reliably from those. I’ve only run surplus ammo and no issues with the ammo. It’s more of a pain to clean than the commie surplus x39 platforms but the platform has its perks.

I wish there were more options for mags available. I’ve wondered how 300 BLK mags would run x39 ammo.

had the new gun out today. dropped about 150 rounds down range

Left the last group of the day on the steel ... its about 3.75 inches at 100m ...and its by no means a deliberate precision group.

it was corrosive Chincom ammo...

had two failures, one failure to go into battery (second round feeding off a XCR-L pistol mag) and one double feed off the 5/30

I used XCR-l mags, 5/17 and the 5/30 it came with.

The x39 ones come with that short handguard?

I Picked up a WK-180 around a month ago waiting on optics to arrive before I go try this out. My first impression...

where the gun opens up with the 1 pin deal, way to much slop and play there.. also put an empty mag in there and so much slop and play im very worried.

Will report back once I get some lead into it.
