I'm sure this has been asked on here before but search didn't pull it up.

Looked for some videos and even at a few manuals and not finding the solution. Must be a secret squirrel thing ....

I'm sure this isn't an uncommon problem, one of you guys must have solved it.

Appreciate any solid ideas.

I used to be allowed to own one until some dickhead in Ottawa said that it was unsafe for me to do so unless I was of A different race, however when I did own one I found that just constant usage eventually loosened it up. Good luck.

asking for a friend ...

Sit on the couch with your trigger group and just play with it while watching a movie or something. It will smooth itself out.

Or you can go full black hawk down and use your index finger as safety :p

ok, off the watch the HEAT shooting scene clips from the evil black rifles thread and work it !

guess I could do the obvious of taking trigger apart and dremmel polish the safety spring & safety arm mating surfaces, maybe a touch of grease on there.

That's what I had to do. This talk of simply using it for a while until it loosened up would not have made mine usuable in anything less than 100 years.

My first attempt was to mix some fine abrasive into grease, lubricate the contact points and work it back and forth a few hundred times. This smoothed it out but did almost nothing to change the very excessive force required to move the safety on and off.

So I upped my game by using a Lanksy knife sharpening stone to remove material a bit at a time until it was to my satisfaction. I don't think I would recommend a dremel.

Bullshît. The rifle is similarly prohibited for everybody, saying this is just looking for divisions where there aren't any. Take your race garbage elsewhere.

Yeah I'm also not thinking mine will just break in to my liking BattleRife.

By dremmel I meant just some polishing compound. No hacking away at it.

If a nice polish doesn't do the trick I'll pull out a fine sharpening stone and go easy on it.
Thanks for the tip !

no dremel..... bad idea.
People used to pay me good money to tune M14 trigger groups so I'll offer some advice..... and NO I do not do this work anymore so don't ask LOL
emery cloth or lapping compound..... nothing else.... well maybe the wife's fine nail file .... :)
on the hammer safety buttress, apply a very small amount of lapping compound with the tip of a modelling brush or q-tip.
Put on a good movie and work the safety till you you reach a happy place.
It shouldn't take too long but you will need to wipe clean and reapply lapping compound 10 to 15 minutes.
Don't make a mess of it, just use little dab each time.
clean the assembly with brake clean to ensure all grease and lapping compound are removed from the trigger group then relube with grease.
and yes, apply grease to the newly mated surface between safety and hammer.
This method ensures that BOTH parts are being "tuned" at the same time.

You should feel a positive click that requires force to snap the safety on and off but should not require brute strength.

Perfect.... exactly what I was looking for.

Thank you very much 45ACPKING.

Well, why can't I hunt with my M14 then?

Amnesty Order to allow for the continued use of the newly-prohibited firearms and/or devices (if previously non-restricted) by individuals who hunt or trap to sustain themselves or their families, and by Indigenous persons exercising Aboriginal or treaty rights to hunt.

A lot of people seem confused about the amnesty.
If you have a Valid hunting license..... you are a sustenance hunter period. This is not CGN legalese, this is simply understanding english.
Subsistance hunting means you hunt to survive, as your only means of aquiring meat....... regardless of race.
Sustenance hunting means you are a hunter who eats the meat you harvest..... again , regardless of race.
Why the idiots in the liberal party added indigenous people as an exception is just race baiting ..... and it worked as there are lot of people who see the amnesty as only applying to Indigenous people and this is wrong.

The real reason they put that in there is because one may1 22 arrives, my guess is the liberals, if they remain in power, will try and work out deals with all the indigenous leaders to give up the firearms on the reserves. Maybe they will buy us all nice new rifles like they did for all the rangers LOL

anyhow.... if you have a valid hunting license and are using the formerly NR for the practice of hunting..... that amnesty says you are good to go. Race has zero to do with it;

no hunting license???? sorry you are being descriminated against and are SOL.
