Picked up the TLR VIR-II for a pistol. It's actually brighter than my helmet KM-1 Surefire on both the white and red light settings. I think it's a fair comparison since both take a single CR123
VIR-II does not, however, like rechargables. It will stay on for 5 seconds before turning back off and you have to turn it back on again. Not an issue with the price.

The laser is relatively weak but still around the same strength as the cheaper Holosuns.
I may even put this on my carbine build for the weight savings. I would recommend others who are in shortage of DBAL, PEQ, ATPIAL-Cs to try the same with the VIR-II simply due to the availability and cheapness of this product in Canada.
It is unfortunately just a dot instead of a laser. And it is also only a red flashlight and not a spotlight illuminator. But for short and builds on a budget (or geographic location), I would highly recommend this in Canada.

If anyone else has any other ideas on cheaper laser / illu / flood options, I would love to hear them. But for $550, you can't be beat if you're only shooting within 50 yards!

For $550, why not buy perst?
PERST does not have ir illuminator on the same amount. Footprint is also smaller.
I could see someone choosing a PERST-2 vis/ir over the holosun standard laser if you do not need more IR lights or if you have more rail space. But th TLR VIR one has a white light, IR light, and laser in one extremely small and lightweight package. Perst 3 and perst-2 illu combos are out of the size and price class of this VIR

This thing packs a huge amount of light within a small package at the cost of the full laser beam or true IR spot.
