I've noticed prices on 2022's is usually quite a bit less than a P226 or P229 new or used. Is there a quality difference, features or something else that accounts for the difference? I'd really like to pick up a Sig and under $800 new is pretty tempting.

After I got the SP2022, I got rid of the 226 fast. It is less expensive for the aforementioned reasons, but it is by no means 'cheaper' For the price, it's an incredible pistol.

The reason the SP2022 is cheaper generally speaking is because of volume, the French contract is the largest pistol contract since WW2 and Sauer are turning the things out in very high volumes.

I thought about getting one, and still might, but was put off by the long lever on the side. If I did I certainly would not give up my 226, one can never have to many Sigs.

I like the long slide lever, what I cant stand is the takedown. It was a good idea for the hi-power, but only because it had a safety to hold the slide in place. normal people dont have 3 hands Sig!!!
