So it's been 17 months, 10,000 rounds, 5 shooting competitions, and around 15 different users (friends, family, other competitors etc)

Strings of fire have included 350 rounds in one go to -30c hunting

At my club the number in use has grown from 1 or 2 to well over 20.

All in all the rifle has been kept stock except for replacing the trigger and putting a vortex strike eagle 1-8x24 on it and a Blue Force Gear sling

All in all I'm really happy with the rifle. It does everything I need it to from hunting, plinking, target shooting and competition shooting. The 500m target at my range fears me.

I put the magnetic bolt handle in and had no more issues there.

It's taken every magazine I can put in it. Every type of ammo and every weather condition.

Being honest I haven't cleaned the gas system the last 4000 rounds, it's not the easiest to get out and whenever I do it's a quick wipe down and doesn't seem to make any difference.

Feel free to ask any Qs about the system and how well it works for men, women, children, new and experienced shooters

Edit: on request here are some pictures of the gas system after 4k next to an unused piston and then what it looks like after 5 minutes cleaning. Also pics of the inside of the upper receiver.

Can you break it apart and post some pictures?

Thank you Sir!

Good to hear! I have one WS-MCR at over 5000 rounds, one at 3000 and just picked up a third that I haven’t decided what to do with yet.

Haven’t cleaned any of them yet, I want to see what happens. They sure don’t get dirty like a DI AR does though!

Have you ever had any troubles ?

So I'll use this my response to a couple similar questions.

The main issues I had were cocking handle related. I broke 3x 2nd Gen screw ins. Kodiak was great each time and gave me a magnetic bolt group & handle. From that point on I never had an issue again.

I did snap one piston, which was swiftly replaced. Oh and my stock came loose when some threads got worn (I was being very rough with it)

These issues we all within the first 5k.it's my belief that the materials have subsequently been improved.

If I was able to wave a magic wand I'd replace the cocking handle with a gen 3 and utilise a Sa80 style gas system for easy dissasembly

Ive seen lots of bad reviews of these but this is encouraging to hear.

There have been legitimate criticisms of the rifle. However there's also a very vocal group who are upset that a small company designed to be $1000 rifle in it's first 2 years of production did'nt perform as well as a state owned mega corporation's rifle that's been in use for 30 years.

Its not a battle rifle, it can do a lot of similar things but try and tdeat it like an AK and you'll have a bad day

How did you afford 10,000 rounds of 223. Lol.

- $900 a month all bills included for a 2 bedroom house with garden while renting our own property out for more
- wife and I both have good well paying jobs
- no debt, don't ever get in debt except a mortgage and student loans for a degree that has a good return on investment

I bought a good chunk of ammo at 35-40c a round

I'm glad to hear that they can go the distance.

my story- I went out to my buddys farm the other day and we were using his new kodiac 180c
within 40 rounds the charging handle flew off, LOL "he had used red loctite" we found it on the ground and he put crazy glue on it and cranked it back in. "never came out again"
But the gun had a feeding issue. We tried 5 different mags and all did the same thing-" you had to hold up on the mags or the Bullitt would run into the bottom of the barrel. seems like the mags all sat way to low in the gun. if you didnt hold the mag up with pressure it would jam every round."
I was very impressed with the accuracy....1/2 inch groups at 100yards WOW...and that was with 3 different types of ammo.
The point of aim was the same with 223 or 556,.. great with both.
some complain about the trigger,..I found it good, no issues.
Its light and well balanced. Easy to take apart.
I'm confident that Kodiac will fix my buddys issues. you read good things about them.

Good to know...just curious when you bought your WK?

I have asked Kodiak about whether they can provide a list of any improvements implemented, parts that have been improved quality and durability wise. Haven't heard anything. That would be useful, but I guess their position may be they don't want to produce that type of list as it may unnecessarily cause anxiety amongst early owners, who may not have yet had a problem with the gun.

I went shooting with this yesterday and it was a hoot. I did meet another gun owner who helped me get my car stuck out of the mud (long story) and he owned a WK and shared with me that his charging handle broke off as well.

Curious how many of these have to take place before Kodiak will consider sending a new bolt that has the magnetic handle. I imagine you cannot just ask for this retrofit upon request.
