I just had an epiphany.
What if...
- Take an AR15 carbine buffer tube and mill 1/4" slot lengthwise in the top and bottom, matching the length & location of the blind slot already present for the carbine stock's detente pin.
- Take the stock, remove the detente pin, and drill a hole in the top of the stock in line with the detente pin hole.
- Take a 1/2" thick aluminum disk that is 1" in diameter and drill a 1/4" hole radially through it
- place the disk inside the buffer tube, aligning the hole in the disk with the slots in the top and bottom of the buffer tube
- insert the buffer tube into the plastic stock
- run a 1/4" stove bolt through the stock, the buffer tube, and the aluminum disk, and secure at the bottom of the stock with a nylon locking nut.
- install a 1" diameter spring into the buffer tube
- screw the buffer tube onto a brobeeized 12 gauge
I wonder how long that would last...
