Marlin 795 in stock

Marlin is basically dead. They were owned by Remington who went out of business. Ruger bought the right to mark marlin firearms but so far they only have plans to produce lever action centerfire rifles.

You'll have to find one used.

I don't think that is correct. The report was that the Marlin line was being retooled and was going to restart shortly.

I found a New Marlin 795 at my local gun store this winter but was old stock. Phone around and I bet you'll turn one up

Dead is a bit much I'd say, but from what I've read the centerfire lever actions will be the first things made with the Marlin tooling they bought, and I haven't heard anything about any other Marlin products yet.

I haven't heard anything about the 795 one way or the other. Although with the similarity to the 10/22 platform (both being semi 22lr rifles) I wouldn't be surprised if Ruger decided its better to drop the 795 entirely and not compete with itself. (that is purely speculation on my part though)

OP you will have to call around or search online for one, there's got to be some sitting on dealers shelves, but they're not being made currently so they will only get harder to find with time. Used is another option, mine only cost me $150 from the EE.

I just wanted to mention that there are a couple Marlins on EE right now. A 989 (M1 clone) and a Marlin 70 HC. Both are wood stock so have classic look and style. Likely a better rifle than any "New" production will be. I was really lucky 2 years ago, found a NIB 2014 Mayfield Model 60 in laminate that the owner never got a chance to shoot - too heavy a workload. Only $250 w-scope and slider of MMs !

Marlin mods . . .

And to add a 'comparison' from some 'experienced' Marlin/Ruger owners - http s://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=655545
I've done almost all of Arrowdodger's mods to my 60 and have the trigger down to a smooth 2# pull :d - the 'Floppy spring' mod alone takes more than 1# off the pull ! Hammer spring 'chop' takes another 1-2#s and 'my' sear spring mod (bend to emulate ADs drill & cut-spring mod) and polishing internals another pound or so. Mcarbo kits are un-needed if you're 'handy'. JMO - YMMV
"My sear spring mod" - about 20* bend

It IS correct. Marlin is being retooled and fired up. As I said, they're only making centerfire lever actions for now. I could have said that Marlin rimfire is basically dead.
