Thinking about adding one to the collection.

Ellwood Epps has several new “Sports” but they differentiate some of them as “Chapuis” models.

The ones without the designation are 124### serials
The ones marked “Chapuis” are 133###.

The ones without the designation are on sale - $300 off.

I asked them for more info but all they could tell me was that the ones without the designation were “older and discontinued”.

I wonder if it is only somehow related to Beretta’s takeover as opposed to any sort of change in manufacturing.

Can anyone shed some light?

I have emailed the importer (Stoeger Canada) but have not heard back.

Those are not serial numbers they are stock numbers.
It is likely that the clearance guns were purchased through another importer at some point in the past and at a lower price. They would also not be subject to Stoeger MAP.
There was no change in manufacturing after the takeover of Chapuis.

Chapuis bought the Manurhin CNC machinery, tooling etc in the mid 90s. The ones made by them since have all the same parts as the original MR73. All parts are interchangeable except the side plate. Since Chapuis was bought by Beretta two year ago, the same MR73 from the 80s are the same as today. The latest ones have white outlines on the sights which the older ones did not have. The new ones have interchangeable rear blades which only the Match and Silhouette had with the Match sights. BTW with proper adjustment of the two flat springs, I have a 1 pound single action and 4 pound double action trigger.

BTW the original MR 73 came win a paper box. The new was are in a proper pistol case. I would check how the older stock is shipped.

A revolver of this price/quality, and it comes in a paper box? lmfao

We have been importing them for the last 5 years or so and all shipped in the plastic case.
