Just picked up my new Ruger PC9 from the post office, delivery took just over a week from Calgary to Toronto so not too bad really.

Can't wait to have a little play with it this evening. I'm just going to stick a Vortex Crossfire on it, buy a couple of 10/17 Pmags and call it good. I don't think I'll do too much upgrading on it everything I've read about it says that it's pretty good out of the box so that's how I'll run it for a while and see how it goes.

Now I just have to wait for Doug Ford to open up the ranges again and I can run some rounds through her. Hopefully in the next week or so according to one article I read.

changing to Glock is super simple. 5-10 min max.
mine loves Pmags
Ive been running 115 Winchester no problems

spend a few min and get comfortable with how the take down works. its super simple once you have done it a few times but i fumbled a lot the first time. Push Pin on bottom, turn and pull. LOL I was over thinking it. turning screws and stuff

Since its NR you don't "Need" a range :)

Just curious - does the take down / reassembly, as easy as it is, impact the zeroing? Do you need to re-sight it in periodically?

NR.

1. Drive north.
2. Pew pew pew.
3. Enjoy.

It can.

Worse is not having the tensioning adjustment right when assembled. Too loose and the barrel will wiggle in the receiver, too tight and you get get it together. Not hard to get it right if you pay attention and check for it.

Now for those who own this...I know it comes with a Glock magwell adapter. Is this easy to install? And I don't mean easy if you are a handy somewhat gunsmithy type of guy...

But easy meaning someone with little to no handyman skills can do without breaking the gun?

For me taking apart anything is easy. Putting it back together....well, that's another story.

that's the ring I over thought and tried to adjust in order to break down.
then I couldn't get it back together (exactly as you describe)

OP: practice a bunch of times at home so you are only looking like a newb in front of yourself.

i used a youtube video, much better than written instructions. if you can do ikea you can do this. took me about 15 min. (10 min to take old out 5 to put new in) and i went slow. its just a couple allen keys.

important note. Dont take screws all the way out. they call it out in written instruction but if you go straight to youtube you might miss that

I am an Ikea ninja so this may be doable. Should get mine in the mail next week if not Friday this week...

There does not seem like there are many places that sell the SR9 mags as much as the Glock mags.

Congrats to OP on new purchase. These things are selling like hotcakes...

Pmag work great, are cheap and are readily available at lots of site sponsors. they are about 1/3 price of SR9 (so you can buy 3x as many mags)

Not really. At least I've not noticed it. Maybe if I had a scope and was shooting at paper targets I would see some shift in impact but I'm using a red dot and steel targets.

So I finally got to have a look at it today. First impression; this thing is built like a tank. It's got some heft to it and I can see why some people have said that they wouldn't want to hump it around the woods all day. It is well put together and the fit and finish seems to be very good. I picked up some Pmags for it today so I will swap out the magwell when I get a chance (although the all metal Ruger mag that comes with it seems very good quality).

The mag release is quite recessed. I'll take it to the range a couple of times to practice with but if it bugs me I will swap it out for the Mcarbo mag release. Also the fore end feels quite angular so if I find that uncomfortable I'll invest in some Mlok rail covers.

Apart from these very minor points I am extremely happy with it. It looks great, it feels very well made and I can't wait to shoot it.

Looking forward to this !

Thank You ! Would you have a link to a good YouTube Video on the PC9 that explains this ?

Take the gun down and adjust the tension nut. You'll figure out which way makes the fit tighter or looser. Too tight and it won't go together. Too loose and you you'll feel the front end wiggle.

Just play with it until you see what I mean.
