Not a shotgun I know but definitely something sporting shotgunners will appreciate. This has been hanging on the wall at our club for as long as some of the original members that are still alive can remember since the clubhouse was built in 1956. Doing some clean up today and the club President handed this to me and said "here, take this home with you". I couldn't load it in my truck fast enough. I'll be hanging it in "the hunting and shooting room" as my wife calls the man-cave styled spare bedroom-office. I am guessing this dates late 50's to early 60's?

Those Federal High Power shells, in the slip top "Mallard" box, were obsolete by about the mid-Fifties, at the latest, I think.
By the early 60s, when I started shooting, the American and Canadian shotshells were all pie crimp.
We did get some roll crimped Sellier and Bellot, and Gevelot shells.
1963 was about the transition date from paper to plastic hulls. I bought a few boxes of paper Canucks, and then they were plastic - no swollen shells in the West Coast rain.
I like the sign.
 
cool sign. Interesting choice of dog. Usually they have the common breeds like labs, setters, or pointers. that looks like a Portugese Water Dog.
 
I would be very happy to get this sign also, but I was surprized the club did not want to keep it so all
the members could enjoy it & for a long time?

The clubhouse only gets used for one registered shoot per year and the odd person using the washroom. It is just a storage building more than anything nowadays. Hardly a person sets foot in it except to put away microphone stands etc. The club only shoots two evenings a week and everyone just hangs out outside. It is in very poor condition and is very mouse ridden. Anything needed for the new one has been removed and cleaned. It is going to be torn down and replaced with a much smaller new building hopefully sooner than later. When I asked about taking the sign down to clean up and put in the new one I was told to feel free to keep it as nobody has probably even noticed it for years. The prez then pulled it down and handed it to me.

I was wondering when I looked at it if it was a curly coated water spaniel? I can recall seeing pics of that breed in sporting dog breed books years ago but have never seen one in person and never heard of a portugese water dog. Interesting.
 
I am not very handy with a computer but if someone is willing to post a pic of a piece of Remington memorabilia I text to them I would be grateful. I was in a store in Peterborough that was closing 40 years ago if memory serves to buy a coat that was on clear out. After I paid for the coat I was walking out and looked above the door and this object was hanging there. I asked if it was for sale. The clerk said he did not know but he would phone the owner. He did and the owner said if I wanted to give him $25 for it I could have it. I did and walked out of that store a happy young man. It still works accurately and is as new. I believe the name of the store was Pilon Sports. If someone would send me a text number by private message and post the pic on here all of us can see it. Thanks

No reason why you need that old sign hanging in your house. It serves no purpose. I’ll do you a favour and take if off your hands. I’ll even pay for the shipping.

I think some of those may have a date , would be on the edge, back maybe. There are repo's, but this looks like the real deal.
I use to sell some while back, the repo's have a new date on them and much lighter tin than than the real ones.
Win, Rem . had some great ones.
