So I have only ever hunted during rifle/shotgun season here in Ontario, so hunter orange was really the only option. This year I plan to try my hand with a crossbow. Am I reading the 2021 Hunting Regulation Summary Correctly? On page 30:

All licensed hunters, including bow hunters,
falconers, bear hunters, and trappers who
are hunting under their trapping licence
during a gun season for deer, elk or moose,
are required to wear hunter orange. This
requirement does not apply to persons who
are hunting double-crested cormorants or
migratory game birds, except woodcock.

So during bow-only season, October 1 to November 1 (in WMU 71), I don't have to wear hunter orange?

Hunter orange is not required, during "bows only" season... I never wear orange when bowhunting or when hunting waterfowl.

Correct (well, except for the Nov 1st date). I see no moose or elk season in WMU 71 so Oct 1-31, Nov 15-28, and Dec 6-Dec 31 you can be in full camo for archery based on what I see in the regulations.

I’ve put the important part of the regulations you’ve quoted in bold.

All licensed hunters, including bow hunters,
falconers, bear hunters, and trappers who
are hunting under their trapping licence

during a gun season for deer, elk or moose,
are required to wear hunter orange. This
requirement does not apply to persons who
are hunting double-crested cormorants or
migratory game birds, except woodcock.

According to the regs you posted, hunter orange is required when hunting under your trapping licence.

You missed the important part.

And to continue, this part of the regs

“In addition, all licensed bear hunters hunting during the open season for black bear, that is not a gun season for deer, elk or moose, are required to wear hunter orange except when in a tree stand.”

I spot and stalk when hunting bear so wearing orange

There are no "bows only" bear seasons.
