Hey folks. Is there an easy way to remove the carry handle? I took out that screw on the bracket but seemed to still be stuck on there so I put the screw back in place.

If you pop the top hand guard off you'll see the other side of the rivet, I just used a file to shave off the top and punched it out, then flipped the rivet over and re inserted it in the carry handle with some locktite. you really cant tell the difference but it makes it so that the carry handle comes off with the screw and it uses the rest of the rivet as an index point and another load bearing point.

There is also a push pin that holds the arm of the carry handle on to the bracket.
Drive that out and no need to file/shave or drill out any rivets.
Not too mention you can put it back on if needed after

I was trying to but that damn thing wouldn’t budge

Be sure to remove the gas tube, piston and spring, or you'll be banging the pin into it. Later, I just turned that pin around to plug the hole. Also, with the bipod, you only need to tap out the solid pin and the whole buckle flops open. Wish people would have told me these two key points before today. I read a bunch of forums and they were of little to no help. Also, if you plan on modifying an AK47 grip at the top to fit the Type 81, you'll need an M6x1 screw at 115mm long. You may need to open up the counter bore at the bottom of the grip, unless you get a Chinese screw.
