Best options for CRPS

Hey guys,

I'm looking at getting into CRPS. I'm looking for some recommendations for rifle and optics for the production division. I like the Savage B22 but it's over the $500 MSRP
 
I got set up with a CZ 457 synthetic with a 16" barrel and Athlon Argos BTR Gen 2 6-24x50 scope. I added an arca rail from amazon and made a custom cheek riser out of Kydex. It fits well and shoots well. I did see that Vortex just put out their 5-25x56 Vortex Venom with a 34 mm tube which is production legal. It looks like a nice scope that is an upgrade over the diamondback tactical and you get an extra 6 mils of adjustment in the elevation over the athlon.

I was also looking at the Tikka T1X but decided on the CZ.
 
^^^ I agree with the 457 synthetic in either 16" or 20" barrel. A good inexpensive rifle to start with and you can always upgrade your rifle parts from there.
 
Im pretty sure a Savage B22 FV model falls under the production category and the MSRP for B22 rifles do not exceed $500 until you get into the fancier models like the B22 Precision that comes in a MDT chassis.
 
I think the production $$ limit is higher now. Basic Tikka and CZ rifles fit in production. That being said, it doesn’t matter really what class you are in. Pick your budget and shop accordingly. The Vortex Venom for $699 is the way to go for a scope right now in its price range.

Does the Synthetic stock model has a thick barrel, or does the Varmint model comes with synthetic stock., want the thick bbl as much as possible. Wish CZ sells just the barrel action

My wife has the 16" barrel Synthetic and it is a pencil barrel. It's accurate enough for my wife. She can hit our 2" spinners set out 100 yards with CCI SV. No problem with the 1" spinners at 50 yards. When she's ready to handle more weight I'll swap out the pencil barrel to the MTR 16" barrel I have lying around.
