Hey, just wondering if anyone has tried the 195g bergers in the 284 win?I've tried a few and have had really good results. I find I do have to push them a little.

Im using 56g of h4831sc

Anyone else have loads?

They would be seated very deep in the case would they not? Not much case capacity with such a short neck OAL.........Harold

The 180s are kind of the gold standard in a .284.

I'll probably pick up a box and work with them. I am reamed for the 180s so a couple thou deeper shouldn't be an issue.

By the way 56grains is my load for the 180s

Jesus, that's a lot of bullet. Can't imagine why a person would want to use a bullet like that.

1000 yard drift of 4 MOA @ 10 mph. Close to a couple thousand Fps left over with my 28 Nosler. Whatever frangible bullet piece of mind can be derived at close range by slowing it down a tad and starting with more bullet.

I'm getting them going 2700fps in a 1:8 twist. They are in a long action loaded with the boatail just at the bottom of the neck.

I tried another load test ad found I could get similar results with them .020 off and only 55g h4831sc

I've shot them from my 8 twist 280 Ackley. Very accurate, 2675 fps with RL26 (22.5" barrel). Shot a moose, and it died

What does that mean?

Pretty simple. If you're of the mind that a VLD bullet is going to vaporize into a cloud of pixie dust and drift harmlessly away after touching hair because you happened to take a shorter shot; you might alleviate some of your angst by starting with a heavier bullet at lower velocity.

Frangible bullet piece of mind threw me. You've been reading too many bearhunter posts.
