were they willing to turn the profile down to a more pencil profile barrel?

Careful - the heat generated by turning on a lathe can destroy the accuracy potential of the barrel. Even when done carefully to keep the heat down, poor results can occur accuracy-wise. Best to simply replace the barrel with one of those Walther/Lothar G36 Clone Barrels from Tac Imports rather than go the lathe route with a heavy-profile barrel.

Just my $.02 as someone who did a G36K clone from an SL-8 a number of years ago.,,

I thought about this, thanks for the information.

Hmmm I didn't really factor in the thermal degradation during turning. Goood point, maybe that is the route i will go.

just a follow-up. rifle back from ian an herron. work is terrific; i highly recommend. cost more to ship it back and forth than the actual work. took off 1.5" or so; still as accurate as it was. procomp surefire on the end now; matches the bull barrel perfectly.

Any idea how to contact Herron Arms besides their email address?
I sent 2 emails weeks ago with no reply.
